Dave Denton Announces Retirement

Post by DCATsOLDMAN »

I thought that this deserved a thread of its own, not just buried in the contracts thread.

According to today's LM https://www.leicestermercury.co.uk/spor ... id-3322886 Dave Denton has retired.
Sad, but the right decision

Agreed re own thread.
Sad sad news but his health and the security of his young family must come first.
I think we missed his impact as much as Veianu last season.
And all from what seemed a relatively innocuous collision

As an aside I’m no longer involved in mini and junior rugby but I would be interested to know the impact such news has on such things as numbers attending, the insistence of wearing head guards if any at all

Really sad time for him but the right decision as his health needs to come first. Thought he played very well for us in the few games he played :smt022

Sadly, this has been inevitable for some time. DD was unable to run without getting a headache and was showing no sign of improvement.

I'm sure we all wish him the very best for the future - once a Tiger, always a Tiger.

Sad to hear...the right choice though , health is all important.
Best wishes to him and his family.

It must have been a difficult time leading to this tough outcome. A real shame to have a career cut short while still relatively young.
Whatever the future holds, I wish him good luck.

I guess we all expected this announcement, I feel very sorry for the guy but he has made a wise decision, long term health is more important than any short term rugby success. Good luck David and all the best for the future.

Big loss to Tigers and Scotland

Neither team had the same go forward drive since his injury

I sincerely wish Dave all the best for the future and hope he can find a suitable replacement career

I too am sorry he has had to retire. Really bad luck to get a career ending injury from a nothing sort of collision.
Good luck in the future David, you weren't a Tiger long but you made a great impression.

Great player and great bloke off the pitch too. Having read the article in the Times about him then he really did have no choice but to retire. We can only hope his health improves so that he can find some suitably fulfilling employment. All the best to him and his family,
