And their billionaire owner has come out against removing Marquee players. There was a rumour last year that some of their squad were on very low wages. As has been said we will see but it must be a difficult balancing job and how much of an upgrade is Sinclair over Afoa given that he will be missing for England
Which I disagree with.
I think we'd be better off getting rid of the marquee system but I do see the Bristol owners point. They've made financial commitments to players based on the rules as they are. To remove them now at what is effectively the 11th hour is not the right time. His club has clearly spent up to the cap including marquees for next season. Why would be want them removing it would leave his club in an impossible situation.
His comments focused more on stifling ambitions rather than the contracts looking at it.

Oh those comments are very much in there but included in there are;

"In addition, the club believe strongly in protecting the marquee rule. Not only do we have long-term contractual obligations that we have planned and budgeted for, it's difficult to compete at the highest level domestically and in Europe without the ability to recruit the best players.

That middle sentence wasn't built up but it's the one that stood out the most for me.

I know he said it, just saying it wasn't exactly the focus of his points

I don't think anyone has said that the marquee player system should end immediately but surely it should be ended in 3 years time thus allowing for current contracts to run through.

Would suggest that any animosity over Dai's departure has been overcome. Surprised that none of the Welsh teams were interested.

Tyrone Green to Quins looking more likely

Probably more like starting in the back three. Would have been quite the trio him, TV and Nadolo. Maybe we are looking more at EQ options.
