I think they've agreed to cancel their contracts as opposed to be cut. SA rugby allowed a period of time for players to decide whether they wanted to continue under their current contract or look elsewhere. It was a nice way of offloading players to ease the financial stress on the clubs. I think the Lions are just the first to announce who's opted to go.

I'd hope McGinty was using his contacts down their to get some deals for us. So far his signings have been good.

Looking at the list of leavers some of which would have been high earners compared with the incomings to date you would hope that we have some decent players to be announced and a bit of spare cap in case of good players becoming available due to cost cutting at other clubs
