It still boggles my mind that you can buy one of the world's biggest rugby clubs for the same price as a decent centre-back. More profitable than the average football club as well, in that we occasionally make some.

On a similar theme - if reports are true of Gareth Bale being paid £1M per week in China, he could have bought the club in a year and two months (excluding taxes and costs).

I wonder if there has been some serious interest in the purchase of the club?

They reckoned there was enough interest to sell the club in the 1st place.

Or is the whole up for sale thing a smokescreen?

Keep the same old management and structures with the “up for sale” as a sop to the fans who are rightly fed up with the current set up.

I doubt so as it would be a bit of an embarrassment to the board if they didn’t manage to sell.

There was no statement of intent to sell, what they announced was the idea of a sale in other words testing the market. There is so far no one that has made an outright purchase of a rugby club with the sort of capital assets that Tigers have. Personally I think if there is someone out there willing to invest substantially in a joint ownership with current shareholders that might give us the best of both worlds. One guy owning the whole business has not worked so far for Bath and although Saracens have done well it is comparatively recently that the Ruperts withdrew and left Nigel Wray as sole owner.
