Wouldn't say he was a standout, he looked good but he was still 2nd choice for Ireland

Fingers crossed for him and Smit. Would fill the squad out nicely. Could see blommetjies covering left wing with May being away at the World Cup and Olowofela out injured.

I loved his little cameo,he seemed to lift the place. I hope he's coming, all signs point to it.

Scarlets have paid him out on this season too so a two year deal would be cheap if we have the cap left.

Smit and Blommetjies would round us out nicely.
Maybe a lock if there’s room, but I’d definitely say we are stronger.
Looked at the obligatory YouTube videos of Smit, he is a tank in the Underhill mode of seven, sheer brutality in contact, but maybe better over the ball.
Blommetjies has pace and footwork, but also decent vision, so as a second playmaker he’s a good option at fullback, freeing Veianu up to also cover wing.

Agreed, for me Smit would go straight into the starting XV. Seems harsh on Thompson but he can cover the entire backrow off the bench.

Blommetjies showed in one the PRC games that he himself is a decent winger. For me when fit Worth is second choice fullback but we seems to be lacking depth on the wing so could see a back three of Blommetjies, Thompstone and Worth for the World Cup period.

Most premiership squads only seem to have 4 locks with the emphasis on backrow cover as maybe those positions are more attritional with injuries. I’d be happy with the 4 we have if we sign Smit. Liebenberg and Kalamafoni can cover there too in emergencies. Seems a far cry from the days when we played locks in the backrow like Williams, Slater or Fitzgerald. Game has moved on with more mobility in the pack.

I think next seasons Marquee will be Ford and Lavanini
Manu plus one of those two is most likely. I guess Cole could be in there as well as scrummaging tightheads are still worth top dollar even if he isn't as mobile as his younger contemporaries.

From what I understand I doubt there is cap space for both Smit and Blommetjies, if Denton & Stevens retire that may free a little space up but I'd still be amazed if we can fit both in

Ronnie du Randt is the most unfortunate to miss out on a development contract there IMO.

Really happy with the senior squad promotions.

Would be able to get Blommetjies as injury dispensation with Olowofela and Thompstone. Smit the same I imagine with Denton.

1. I'm being very stupid here. What does that mean Grahamslaw is gone then. I thought he was a bit of a star. Genuine question.

2. Which Smit is being talked about? Genuine question.
