Interview with Dave Denton:

"Denton is hoping to be back in training soon, but the 29-year-old is also realistic and accepts he may not be able to play rugby again after suffering his fifth concussion."

Maybe if they leave, there will be room for another additional prop. Maybe a RWC raw prospect from Eastern Europe, Pacific Islander or Namibia etc
He is but I think he converted from 8 to loosehead only a couple of years ago so might need more time to get his technique ready for senior rugby.

Sounds to me like his aspirations are away from rugby in the short term, in spite of him saying he wants to get back to training. Good luck to him, it must be really tough.

I think World Rugby put their hands in their pockets and sorted that out.
It wasn't about money per se, it was about insurance (or lack thereof) and the risks that the clubs were taking for no reward.

Nations wanted players releasing before the official window but if players got hurt outside of the official window then the clubs were on the hook for medical bills and wages etc. Even if it was during the official windows the insurance was also capped at wages of £225k with clubs picking up the excess of the bill above this - there are 60 non-English players earning this much in the Premiership!

Isn't this two different issues? WR increased their level of insurance cover but that still only covers the designated international periods. And PRL were/are against releasing players like Biggar before the mid-August designated international release date without cover/compensation?

Not sure whether its been highlighted but Taufua's deal is for 2 years and part of that could be representing Samoa at WC so that's an 18month deal in reality?

We wouldn't have too pay much. The draw of living in Leicester would be huge!
In my defence, I was left unsupervised….

His contract would be fairly cheap as he'd only be contracted for 7 months, November to May. A leader and possibly a great mentor to some of our development backrow players. He's a bit past his best but should still offer something very different, ridiculous skill set.

Lavanini putting in a strong shift for the Jags tonight.

Really seems like he's cleaned up his game, but still a monster. Think he'll be huge for us. Just what we need.

Lavinini was brutal, really high work rate and key to the jaguars line out. Also scored a key try. We have a gem there, looking forward to watching taufua in the next semi.

Very much looking forward to seeing him and Spencer in the second row next season. Should be a brutal combination.
