Taufua qualifies for Samoa not Tonga. He is remaining in NZ for the Mitre 10 so that he's eligible for the All Blacks if injuries hit before the World Cup. Given he isn't in the New Zealand squad for the Rugby Championship it seems unlikely he'll be an All Black so could well play internationally for Samoa.

Wales captain Alun Wyn Jones has signed a new contract to keep him at Ospreys until June 2021.

Seems like we’re happy with our back three players having not signed him nor Walker, Purdy or Goneva. Plenty of talent out there who have moved.

Whilst I think Tigers made a mistake in letting Goneva go to bring in Pietersen I don't see how bringing him back at his age would help us build for the future. Purdy we released and now Gloucester has done the same, Walker left whilst still an Academy player for valid educational problems and our training times, he has never established himself in the Harlequins team, what exactly would they bring to our squad. Clayton B played well here, but he was not unavailable through illness on a few occasions and Scarlets released him through lack of fitness
We have for our back three, Veainu, May, Holmes, Thompstone, Aspland-Robinson & Olowofela, plus Worth, Viljoen, Taute who can all centre & 15. Add to these Development prospects like Steward and Browning not forgetting Bungaroo about whom I know nothing, I think we are well covered in that area.

That’s what I mean, we have loads of depth plus Browning has been training with the seniors.

Anyone heard anymore news on Smit?

Currie Cup only runs till September.
It’s reaching a bit.
Suppose it may just be the case that we feel we have enough back here options between the senior players and development options.

Hopefully still something in the Smit rumours.
