Assume this would be an injury dispensation for Denton, massive downgrade sadly. Was hoping for Smit personally.

Coghlan and this guy haven’t even played much at premiership level.

How much experience does a short term squad signing need to have? Thompson didn't have any AP experience before signing for Wasps but he looked good there and we were delighted to get him. Smit doesn't have any Premiership experience either.

We don't know if he's signed or is just on trial, if he's just on trial it might be because we are unsure on what Smit intends to do. If Smit hasn't yet made his mind up its prudent for the club to take steps to get the cover they think we need. Can't have all your eggs in one basket.

Coghlan has had a few really good years at Nottingham after getting a handful of games in at Leinster and Munster. I don't think he'll set the league alight but he should be able to do a job.

I rate the club for signing Coghlan, there are some quality players in the championship who are worth taking a punt on. He looks talented and give him time with the club should be a prospect.

But if Denton is sadly not fit for the start of the season, suddenly having to rely upon on Coghlan and Boladau doesn’t fill me with confidence. Don’t mind signing a project player but Kalamafoni, Taufua, Denton not being available beginning of the season means they’ll be thrown in at the deep end.

Couldn't we go Reffell,Thompson, Liebenberg?

As Scott says you'll be throwing them into the deep end in an otherwise good pack of;

Bateman, Kerr/Youngs, Leitagaga
Green, Spencer
Thompson, Liebenburg, ???

One of the three as ??? with another on the bench alongside Gigena, Kerr/Youngs, Heyes, Wells. In Reffell, Coghlan and possibly the new Fijian we will have a range of ability from the out and out 7 of Reffell to the combative all rounder Coghlan or the unit Fijian.

Looks too young, to be honest
Pita looks way older than he is, only 25 I believe.

By the looks of Nottingham rugby’s page he signed for them just the other week. Seems to be their replacement for coghlan.

Wouldn't be the first time we nicked a player from Nottingham before they'd even played for them.

Maybe but players have Prem clauses don’t they. If the mystery person is indeed Ifereimi Boladau then ok but I really wanted it to be Sowakula.

Boladau played really well in the most recent army v navy fixture albeit off the back of a pretty dominant pack display but as an attacking force he looked very good given the platform.
The army skipper who was also on the back row was superb all round though in my opinion.

As he plays for the army he is probably just training with our guys while they are in Aldershot. I wouldn't read anymore into it until there is an official announcement

Would have been pretty easy for them to say that in reply to the twitter post though.
