David Mele to return to Tigers?

Post by RagingBull »

Signed a 2 year deal with Tigers as a academy coach (or so I have heard at least)

Deal with Austin rugby apparently fallen through.

Had heard he might also be doing some scrum half coaching with the senior as well. (Guessing with Simmons, White, and potentially both JVP and Law we could have a lot of young 9's so would make sense.

Unbelievable yet another recruit to the retired ex Tigers coaching team. Seems the BOD are in complete and utter denial as to why our great club is in such a disgraceful state. These appointments are regressive and in my opinion are at the heart of Tigers downfall.

1. It's a academy position.
2. He's been away from Tigers for 4 years.....

3. He was only here for 2 seasons
4. If we rule out every player or coach with a previous connection to Tigers, how many would that rule out? A large number.

Its should only ever be about the very best candidate for the job and nothing else.
Sadly the opposite is true when it comes to coaching appointments at Tigers.

How do you know he wasn't the best candidate available?
Faithless is he that says farewell when the road darkens.

They don't...

although being a academy scrum half coach for a prem side should only attract the best coaches...

Then should we have ruled out Boris too, given the negativity towards ex players.
It should be about what the coach brings to the club, not their playing history.
In this instance, he’s starting with the academy, so what’s the big risk?

As with all thing in life these days people like to swing a big brush and tar anybody they can reach with it. He's played predominantly in another league for a couple of successful teams and will bring new ideas with him, I don't see the problem myself.

Outcry that another ex tiger has been appointed, and yet wailing and gnashing of teeth that we haven’t appointed Rowntree.

Double standards anyone

Certainly not from me I have never advocated any Ex Tiger coaching appointment.

Just yet another lazy Old Boy appointment. That said, it seems others welcome and indeed are more than happy for this revolving doors gravy train to continue to drag us down.
