Re: Mike Ford
Fresh set of eyes.
How about we just embrace it and look forwards, can't change what's gone.

Faithless is he that says farewell when the road darkens.

Because Murphy is more DOR material than that of a head coach.

Re: Mike Ford
Young coaches who don't have the same depth of experience. Ford has been around the block and is used to adapting different environments thinking to what he wants to accomplish. Geordie knew what he wanted from the team but maybe he didn't have the experience to relate those ideas to his players. After all Geordie was an exceptional player beyond the level of at least 95% of this squad in skill level and game management.

Re: Mike Ford
A few weeks ago we would 100% have conceded that last minute try so I'll shake his hand for that alone. We do still have the least defensively capable back line in the premiership though, maybe he can have a look at them next.
Re: Mike Ford
How do you come to that conclusion? With 10 to 15 years of top level coaching experience possibly he might be a DOR.Leicestertinytiger wrote: ↑Sat Apr 13, 2019 1:29 pmBecause Murphy is more DOR material than that of a head coach.

Re: Mike Ford
Not really. He’s wet behind the ears when it comes to being head coach as he lacks the technical expertise and experience to coach at this level. His record and tenure as skills coach speaks for itself.TigerCam wrote: ↑Tue Apr 16, 2019 8:37 pm+1 . DOR is concerned with the overall squad and team selection. He obviously has a vision of how he wants the team to play plus it very good at giving youth gametime from the academy. Hence why he would make a good DOR and let an experienced coach be headman.

Re: Mike Ford
People keep bringing that up, Smurph's 'vision'. I'd love it if somebody could explain to me what that is because all i've seen all season is a lot of possession being hoofed away and either May or nobody chasing depending on availability. And it's hard to give him credit for playing the youth, it's not like he was leaving a galaxy of stars on the bench to do so.Leicestertinytiger wrote: ↑Tue Apr 16, 2019 8:58 pm

Re: Mike Ford
I believe Murphy’s first objective is to to turn Welford Road into a fortress, and just take away games as they come. Apart from Worcester, Northampton and Exeter, we have either won or only just lost. His vision surely is pretty clear... return Tigers to the top echelons of English and European Rugby.

Re: Mike Ford
That's not a bad strategy........to be going along with. Get back to basics. It's the fat boys that win rugby matches. The backs decide by how many. That's been said many times, but it's not a bad place to start.JP14 wrote: ↑Wed Apr 17, 2019 7:22 am I believe Murphy’s first objective is to to turn Welford Road into a fortress, and just take away games as they come. Re: Mike Ford
I wonder if we will retain Mike Ford on a permanent basis? He does know his stuff I guess, and we do need more experience in that department.
