I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again, Jamie Joseph and Tony Brown are the ideal duo. Worked together for Highlanders and now Japan. Joseph built a tough and uncompromising forward pack at the Highlanders without any real star names. Brown had the attack playing with real invention.

I’ve not yet seen enough from our current setup to see signs of Tigers rediscovering their edge. Bakewell doesn’t appear to have the pack as drilled and competitive as we’d like, and Murphy has not got the attack playing with any flair or cutting edge. It could be that the squad inherited from O’connor is not balanced as they’d like, and given the opportunity to shape it how they like may just make a difference. Stankovich has got the scrum firing nicely though.
Time will tell if Ford’s experience makes a difference. Fingers crossed.

You could work them all into the structure and form a potentially excellent collaboration of coaches.

DOR Joseph
HC Murphy
AC Brown
DC Ford
SC Stanko
FC Deacon

Might be more of a spend than we have currently and whether they could come together as a coherent coaching staff would be a big question after the Mauger/Cockers divide.

The club has previously arranged for junior coaches to go to the SH to gain short term coaching experience. Geordie and Blaze both did stints previously.

What do you think RB - any logic (or hope!) in thinking GM & O’Gara could be a good fit for us as DOR & Head Coach?
