To be fair we haven’t seen him at his best with the injuries he’s had.

Saw him play against us at Welford Road last season and he was head and shoulders above any of our back row players.

His injuries and the absent Denton have exposed our back row options. Far to many utility players. It’s ok to have a couple in the squad who can play second row and 6 but we have for a long time given them starting slots. What on earth is Williams doing at 7 in the Premiership? So we can play Kitchener in the second row?

It really does say a lot about the lack of understanding of the importance of back row play by our coaching team. Exeter’s back row dealt with us with ease. We picked second rows in the back row and they were simply too slow to win ball and support our runners.

We need to play specialist players in position - that’s why Guy Thompson stood out on Friday.

Taufua and Thompson in the back row together will be great to see. Especially with Tommy Reffell coming through to challenge.

If as rumoured another number 8 comes in who could potentially start ahead of Kala then the back row will have been recruited for well.

Regardless of Denton situation.
Ooo hope we get a decent Number 8, hope my suggestions have been taken into account!

Great to see Thompson getting rave reviews in the papers. Remember Salvi writing when he played for Exeter that Thompson was one of the best opensides in the premiership he’d came up against.

Two tries, try assist and turnover to win the game. Immense performance and should be pushing for co-captaincy next season.
