Gatland and Edwards free after the WC. Go for the best.
Edwards isn't busy at the mo, let's offer him the entire hotel and car park, I think it'd be worth it not to have to endure getting continually scored on by less than robust opposition.

Gatland will go to France I think, just a hunch.

To be honest, he could well do just that.

Wallabies coach Michael Cheika is being targeted for a plum post-Rugby World Cup job with the Leicester Tigers, according to a report in the British media.

Not just the British media where there are many reports, but also Aussie as well - cost seems to be a big issue. He is in UK at the moment talking to his world cup players so he must be somewhere near Leicester sometime in the near future if he hasn't been already.

As I said on another thread we have wasted so much money on paying off recent coaches (Cockers, Mauger and MOC) plus appointing Murphy I suspect we simply do not have the cash to sign a world class DOR :smt010

If we had sacked MOC after the Sale game as originally intended, we could have had Gustard as DOR with Vesty as attack coach. It seems the options out there now are much more limited.

I have been in the "give him a fair crack of the whip" camp vis Geordan and have some sympathy with him, looking at
the players he is without. But, we are in deep trouble at the moment and none of the games we need to win look easy.
He is a Tigers legend, a great chap and very personable but he is looking increasingly out of his depth. Had he achieved more in his journey as a coach I would be more confident but sad to say I am not.
There must come a time, very shortly I should think, when a hard decision must be made.
The BOD were clearly of the opinion that he should be backed when he was appointed head coach, even after continued losses.
They obviously know more than we do but sentimentality in professional sport will get you relegated.
There are clearly some decent coaches within the club, especially the recent specialist additions and it must be tempting to promote one of them but as Genge has so eloquently stated, several moves in and among the coaches/playing staff have caused strong unrest . Therefore I favour bringing in a proven outsider to steer us to the end of the season, in overall charge or as advisor to GM. Ford seems the likeliest candidate but I would look at anyone who can motivate the players we have, to stay up.
With respect to the future, I would not go with the aussie or anyone previously here. We certainly cannot gamble our future success and status on an untried novice again.
A life long Tiger

To be honest ,I believe that the BOD simply threw G.M. to the wolves.

If I am correct didn't Tigers recruit a World Class Argentinian coach after a World Cup before.
He has many similarities to MOC, look at the Aus teams past results under him & the swears the same as MOC! I thought they called him the "chicken!" Michael "chicken" Cheika. NO THANKS.. :smt019

So when's the announcement expected of Mike Ford's appointment as DOR?

It would be common sense and logical to bring in Mike Ford to save our season.
After all GM has made a pigs ear of it because certain players are not giving 100% whatever anyone says... Get the 2 Fords to sort out this unedifying mess.

GM needs back up. Mike Ford knows what the problems are, he's seen them. He's available until I think 2020. He might not be everybody's cup of tea, but, he's been around the block a few times, he's got a good CV, and he's been successful. He has the experience GM lacks. See if he'll take a short term contract to help sort the rest of the season. It just seems to make sense to me.

I'd be all for bringing Ford in. Sadly the appointment of GM has panned out exactly as everyone thought it would.....everyone bar our BOD that is, whose response to 8 straight losses was to give him the gig on a permanent basis. He's an ex-Tiger so that equals success, right?

One thing Ford can't change in the remaining games is the lack of fitness and conditioning. Players are going to be starting matches half-cooked as they have all season. It's too late to change that significantly now.
I saw Marika Vunibaka play
