Didn't Clare feature large in our home defeat to Saints season before this? Seem to remember him coming on and giving our scrum a seeing to.
Difficult to see how we can do much better for a fourth choicer. Big experienced hooker with Tigers background.

Pretty sure Leatigaga is next

Hasn't Clare been at Bedford this season?
You shouldn't be surprised anyway. You've already asked why would players join us over other clubs so these types of signings should be expected.
On the other hand, you could realise that this is the standard we are going to get for a 4th choice hooker. We are hardly going to be signing Jamie George or Luke Cowan-Dickie to be a backup player are we?!
As a fourth choice hooker, it should be fine, he was brought up through the academy therefore should have the Tiger's ethos, but it's whether that's been lost. It's nice to see that Murphy is trying to recreate or reshape the ethos though.
My apologies JP14. It wasn't you who said it.

Isn’t it the Harry Thacker argument you have to go away to get game time so that you can come back a better player
In some cases I’m sure they’re told that
Look at Wells he would never have been pushing for the first team if he stayed without game time

I thought I read somewhere Stevens was leaving. Is he not the current 4th choice hooker?

Wells isnt now. We need some muscle and bulk at 4 and 5, like Skelton and Mostert.

He hasn’t been seen since September or October. Clare is a solid signing. He’ll do a job as and where required (particularly as the club will be second guessing international selections) and has decent experience to fall back on.mightymouse wrote: ↑Mon May 06, 2019 11:34 am I thought I read somewhere Stevens was leaving. Because when you have an important game and lose someone at short notice (for example) you want the choice of playing a tyro or having an experienced head in the squad.CitizenSmiff wrote: ↑Mon May 06, 2019 10:29 am
My counter to that needlessly confrontational argument would be that we shouldn't be signing a 4th choice hooker anyway, why isn't there an academy product at Oval Park who can step up.

Just out of interest a pack of
1. Leatigaga
2. Polota-Nau
3. Heyes
4. Lavanini
5. Spencer
6. Kalamafoni
7. Taufua
8. Liebenberg
would be an average weight of 19 stone pretty much.

That sounds brilliant, lets hope and hope we see Tigers back at the top.
