sorry - didn't spot the typo - ty but the main point is that we should have 3 backs on the bench not 2 and yes, JP14, I would leave Fitz out and have Wells and Evans on my benchlonglivethecrumbie wrote: ↑Sun Mar 03, 2019 7:08 pmIt was a 6-2 split. I think that it may be the last 23 standing who will be at Sale!trendylfj wrote: ↑Sun Mar 03, 2019 6:07 pm Don't like the 5 - 2 split on the bench - would not have Tuilagi on the bench at all - look at what happened yesterday with the 5 - 2 split. Choice between Fitz, Wells and Evans as to who misses out and would have Hardwick on the bench if fit as well as Harrison again if fit

Re: Sale vs Tigers
Agreed but will Toomua be fit again? Is Varndell a flash in the pan? Is Brendon O'Connor fit again or homeward bound?

Re: Sale vs Tigers
I don't think Fred Tuilagi will be in the squad for Sale but why oh why does Mark 62 repeatedly dismiss Fred's very good performances in A league and Premier Cup in favour of an opinion formed about the player when he was still at school?
It is my belief that Murph did not want to field a bench of six forwards, circumstances late last week created a situation where there was no alternative.

I've been harsh on Fred, but his game v Saints was excellent, especially carrying wise. Looks to now carry through the opposition rather than stop.
I wouldn't mind seeing assuming no injury returns.

Re: Sale vs Tigers
To be fair I think all of the back rows have had struggles because they rarely get to attack in the right areas.
They should be in the wider channels a bit more looking to find more mismatches and young Fred could be as useful as anyone in these areas in my opinion.
I thought the injuries against Wasps raised some interesting things, Evans having to fill in defensively at 10 for example, and how extra defensive cover and attacking surprises could similarly be utilised a bit more.

Re: Sale vs Tigers
For the very simple reason that other than the odd game where people have reported he has been good, at a lower level, I have seen nothing in his game as an adult to suggest he is ready to make the step up to the premiership.johnthegriff wrote: ↑Mon Mar 04, 2019 9:24 am I don't think Fred Tuilagi will be in the squad for Sale but why oh why does Mark 62 repeatedly dismiss Fred's very good performances in A league and Premier Cup in favour of an opinion formed about the player when he was still at school?

One swallow doesn’t make a summer, and I go back to the fact that if he had a different surname people would be questioning why he was still in the squad or at least dual registered with a championship side.
This is just my opinion of course
Re: Sale vs Tigers
Whilst it was fun watching Holmes at 9, I suspect Tigers would prefer to have a card carrying scrum-half there, so Simmons to start.RagingBull wrote: ↑Mon Mar 04, 2019 9:34 am I've been harsh on Fred, but his game v Saints was excellent, especially carrying wise. Re: Sale vs Tigers
As well as Holmes did, i think it would be a huge mistake to risk him at 9 providing Simmons is fit

Harry Simmons to start at 9 for me. Interesting to see that no-one is suggesting a change at 10. Has Joe Ford 'come of age' on this forum after his MotM performance vs Pests? Nobody advocating Hardwick against Sale?
Happy days clearing straw from the pitch before the Baa-Baas games! KBO

Re: Sale vs Tigers
I think it's prudent to play Ford at Sale, he can interpret some of their NorthWest calls, always handy to have a native speaker to help disrupt.....strawclearer wrote: ↑Mon Mar 04, 2019 11:40 am Harry Simmons to start at 9 for me.
