Tigers v Wasps
Not knowing the fitness of all the players, I would go with
Bateman/Gigena
Youngs
Coles
Wells
Spencer
Evans
Thompson
Kalamafoni
Harrison
Hardwick
Sarto
Toomua
Eastmond
Holmes
Worth
Kerr
Heyes
Gigena/Ma'afu
Fitzgerald
Williams
White
Thacker/Owen
Aspland-Robinson
We are so light in cover in the 3's it is frightening - I am assuming that Smith, Tait, Veainu, Thomson, Denton and O'Connor are all still injured

Good Gowd are we expecting to compete.
I see a humiliation and I'll be having to watch this one on BT Sports - and having to listen to Dayglo extol the might of Warps.
(Sound will be off) ( Telly might be off at Half time)

Re: Tigers v Wasps
Really hope we change up the backs which for me haven’t been working. Worth has looked good and hopefully at 13 would get more ball in hand.
9. Harrison
10. Toomua
11. Olowofela
12. Eastmond
13. Worth
14. Sarto
15. Holmes
9. Harrison
10. Toomua
11. Olowofela
12. Eastmond
13. Worth
14. Sarto
15. Holmes
Re: Tigers v Wasps
Agreed thought that the forwards came out of it with more credit than the backs. The one issue for the forwards was the ruck where we were getting messy ball, but Guy coming back in will help. I'm worried about dropping Kitch after a 100% lineout in the last game, but I think that Wells is much better at ruck-time.
In the backs I think we need to bring in some experience. Varndell and Sarto to start, and agree with Worth to 13 (if not him then SAR). I prefer SAR on the bench because he covers more positions and is a bit more solid than Jordan.
Assuming the same players are available...
1. Gigena
2. Youngs
3. Cole
4. Wells
5. Spencer
6. Fitzgerald
7. Thompson
8. Kalamafoni
9. Harrison
10. Toomua
11. Varndell
12. Eastmond
13. Worth
14. Sarto
15. Holmes
16. TPN
17. Ma'afu
18. Heyes
19. Williams
20. Evans if available (if not Kitch)
21. White
22. Hardwick
23. SAR
My really baseless prediction is that this game will be much closer than people think. Spencer and Thompson are two of our best players and them coming back will be massive, and the impact of being at home will mean that those 50/50 calls which have been going against us may go our way (and the players should have a bit more energy).

Surely with a concerted effort you could make enough noise to drown him out!strawclearer wrote: ↑Mon Feb 25, 2019 2:06 pmI'll be behind him in the Crumbie - fortunately far enough back not to hear him!wellstiger wrote: ↑Mon Feb 25, 2019 2:02 pm Good Gowd are we expecting to compete.

Re: Tigers v Wasps
I'd be interested in seeing Toomua at 13. He should be able to run the d-line better than Eastmond or Owen will at outside centre.
Being optimistic that Evans and Reffell are fit because the breakdown needs huge improvement as usual.
1.Gigena 2.Kerr 3.Cole 4.Wells 5.Spencer 6.Thompson 7.Evans 8.Kalamafoni
9.Harrison 10.Hardwick 11.Holmes 12.Eastmond 13.Toomua 14.Sarto 15.Worth
16.Youngs 17.Ma'afu 18.Heyes 19.Fitzgerald 20.Reffell 21.White 22.Olowofela 23.Aspland-Robinson
If Bateman is fit, or possibly Genge released for game time, it would help depth in the forwards.
Wasps are coming off a loss at home so this is a winnable game but only if senior players step-up.

Odd, but I have a feeling we will win this. Maybe I am ill.

I'm going to throw this one in to confuse the situation...
1. Bateman/Gigena
2. Youngs
3. Cole
4. Wells
5. Spencer
6. Kalamafoni
7. Evans
8. Thompson
9. Harrison
10. Toomua
11. Holmes
12. Eastmond
13. Olowafela - defensively not comfortable tracking back on his heels on the wing, try bringing him into the line.
14. Sarto
15. Worth
PTN, Gigena/Fe'o, Ma'afu , Fitzgerald, Williams, Simmons, Ford, Owen.

Re: Tigers v Wasps
Olowofela to 13 would be interesting.
Played against Banners in the AWC last season and did well in defence from what I remember.
Harrison has a fractured Thumb so might not be fit.

His best game in a senior shirt thus fur imo, his most complete performance.RagingBull wrote: ↑Mon Feb 25, 2019 6:57 pm Olowofela to 13 would be interesting.

In that case if Harrison isn't fit then it'd have to be Simmons starting and whichever U18 is viewed as most ready on the bench in my opinion.RagingBull wrote: ↑Mon Feb 25, 2019 6:57 pm Olowofela to 13 would be interesting.

I thought I recalled Olowafela playing at 13, but to be honest quick ball is key otherwise it won't matter who is playing at 13 as they won't even get a glimpse of any outside edges.

I am really not optimistic at all.

Re: Tigers v Wasps
The quick ball aspect of your post is key. We did nothing to stop Wuss laying all over the ball last weekend. The forwards need to start giving our half backs more to work with. Even White who is happy with slow ball was like a rat up a drain pipe when given quick ball near the try line at the weekend (shame the TMO insisted that having a hand on a shirt constituted obstruction).BFG wrote: ↑Mon Feb 25, 2019 7:45 pmIn that case if Harrison isn't fit then it'd have to be Simmons starting and whichever U18 is viewed as most ready on the bench in my opinion.RagingBull wrote: ↑Mon Feb 25, 2019 6:57 pm Olowofela to 13 would be interesting.

Owolofela at 13 is a good option if we can get some go forward up front. He's got the acceleration to make the most of any gap we create.
