Chris Jones reporting Maro Itoje is out for eight weeks after injuring medial ligaments in England’s outstanding victory over Ireland in Dublin forcing head coach Eddie Jones to reshuffle his pack to face France at Twickenham on Sunday.

It means Itoje will miss the rest of England’s Guinness Six Nations campaign following a scan on the knee. It is understood that Itoje will see a specialist today to discuss the best treatment for the ligament damage which could also keep him out of Saracens European Champions Cup quarter final with Glasgow at Allianz Park on the final weekend of March.

Yes he admitted to Stuart Hogg after the final whistle that "having reviewed the incident Pearce should have let play continue then check the alleged obstruction." He agreed that it should have been a try! :smt013

Apart from Maro Itoje do we think there will be any changes for Sunday's match against France?

Short answer no.
I think it will be interesting given the impact that Lawes had off the bench if he starts instead of Itoje or Launchbury comes straight in

Nice dilemma to have, there's not another team in the world blessed with such good quality locks. I would start with Launchbury and bring on Lawes as the game begins to break up, it would also keep him fresh for any back-row emergency's.

England men’s head coach Eddie Jones has called up 35 players today to begin preparations for their second Guinness Six Nations match against France on Sunday 10 February (KO 4:45pm, live on ITV).

Maro Itoje (Saracens) suffered a knee ligament injury during the Ireland game. The Saracens lock is expected to be available towards the end of the tournament. Nick Isiekwe (Saracens) has been named in Itoje’s place.
