Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2018/19 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD PART 5
Players we should go after if Newcastle get relegated:
Teviti Cuvabati
Sinoti Sinoti
Sonatane Takula
Calum Green
Josh Matavesi
Adam Brocklebank
We’re already runoured to be after Green, Cavubati is out of a contract and would be a quality acquisition, don’t know about the other players though.

Apologies he looks older and has been around for a while.
I suppose the issue with someone like him is that by the time he knows what’s happening Newcastle a lot of clubs will have already allocated next years playing budget

Matavesi isn't all that, he'd just be another squad player. Johnny Williams, however, is a young centre we should have acquired last summer and before his injury was first choice 12 and really ripping it up at Falcons.JP14 wrote: ↑Sun Feb 03, 2019 3:31 pmMatavesi is 27?Mark62 wrote: ↑Sun Feb 03, 2019 3:16 pmSinoti injury prone, Matavesi too old Brocklebank very over ratedJP14 wrote: ↑Sun Feb 03, 2019 3:08 pm Players we should go after if Newcastle get relegated:

I'd target Green, Wilson, Williams, Hammersley. How many of those four have relegation clauses or Falcons would need to offload to adjust their finances to a year in the Championship I don't know (as I think only Green is out of contract).

That's if Newcastle do get relegated,or even if they do after finishing bottom. I still believe it will be ringfenced with 13 teams.

You don't worry by that constantly recruiting from the relegated teams Tigers will just become relegation fodder?sam16111986 wrote: ↑Sun Feb 03, 2019 6:27 pmMatavesi isn't all that, he'd just be another squad player. Johnny Williams and Ryan Mills were my two ideal centre signings last year. Ended up with neither. Would be more happy to pick Williams up if the Falcons were to fall through the trapdoor
Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2018/19 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD PART 5
I'd take Alex Dunbar or Will Hurrell in a heartbeat. Cost effective players who could run the defence.
Mills is signed on with Worcester long term sadly. He's a terrific player but if Noel Reid is signed up then he covers the same basis as Mills would have.

Three of those four were there when Falcons finished fourth though. Williams wasn't but he's a lad with a bucket load of potential and he's a good player now. Wilson was epic for England yesterday and Hammersley is a specialist fullback with a good rounded skillset but not rapid enough for Eddie so will be available all year round.drc_007 wrote: ↑Sun Feb 03, 2019 7:21 pmYou don't worry by that constantly recruiting from the relegated teams Tigers will just become relegation fodder?sam16111986 wrote: ↑Sun Feb 03, 2019 6:27 pmMatavesi isn't all that, he'd just be another squad player. We need to be clever with our recruitment. Signing players from big teams or who have big reputations is expensive and the wage cap has a very finite limit. We have Toomua's marquee space for a top class forward but after that it'll be a case of one in one out.

Wow, this really is a desperate thread, aside from the good work done on current contracts etc.

Given that all signs point to Jordan Taufua, I'm going to be inconsolable if he doesn't sign on the dotted line...
Kitch, to be expected, moving back to Warriors. Shame he didn't realise his undoubted potential - big enough unit, prob lacks a side of nasty. Hopefully to be replaced by sizable SA lump
