But would that change if he's not selected for the World Cup squad......

Yeah I hinted about Slater in one of my posts a few days ago. See if you can find it.Leicestertinytiger wrote: ↑Fri Feb 08, 2019 1:33 pm Some weird rumours doing the rounds that Murphy is very interested in bringing back Slater and Hamish Watson to Welford Road.
Apparently Watson doesn’t get on well with Cockerill. Is out of contract and has yet signed a renewal. Would be good business if Evans and BOC both leave.
Slater at the end of his two year contract with Gloucester too.

Slater would be a good book to get back regardless of his knees.
Wasn't treated very well by RC or MOC especially over the captaincy.
Watson yes but only if BOC & Evans leave.

To win is not as important as playing with style!

Another vote here for a return of Slater. Not sure whose dumb idea it was to let him go.Wayne Richardson Fan Club wrote: ↑Fri Feb 08, 2019 6:22 pm Slater would be a good book to get back regardless of his knees.

Not 100% sure but I wouldn't be surprised if it happens.Leicestertinytiger wrote: ↑Fri Feb 08, 2019 6:31 pmAny truth in it?ellis9 wrote: ↑Fri Feb 08, 2019 5:59 pmYeah I hinted about Slater in one of my posts a few days ago. Oh what a cracking signing! J.F. oozes quality, fire, and determination, which is what we have been lacking over the past two years. This is a huge statement of the club's determination to take us back around the top.
Hopefully this signing may make some of those players thinking of leaving, change their ideas.
Let us hope that we continue to make quality signings, including an out and out number 8., with D.D. in his usual position.
Anyway, well done for the magnificent signing announced today.

I believe a top club needs 4 good locks and Spencer,Slater, marquee,Wells would make up a very good foursome.

Sorry, I meant J.T. in the above post.

You can edit the post, don't you know
Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2018/19 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD PART 5
Green sounds like a done deal too.
A marquee will be away for international duty then 4 quality locks plus a big tent forward would be great squad balance.
If Kitchener and Fitzgerald are both moving on then there's room for Green and Slater. Particularly when we are currently overpaying our locks. Slater is on good money at Gloucester and captaining them in place of Heinz so it would likely hinge on a personal decision about moving back to Leicester.
Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2018/19 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD PART 5
Forgot about Green! In that case I don't see a marquee lock and Slater then. That's one frontline lock too many imo, although that hangs on Fitzy going or staying I suppose.

4 locks leaves you one injury from having all your options in the 23, that's the only concern there. Limited selection options and little opportunity to rotate. With Williams (confirmed) and Papa (seems likely) leaving we wont have the back row players who cover lock either.
I was really happy to see Sam Lewis re-sign though so hopefully he emerges as an option as well. Cam Jordan and George Martin are exciting players too but are only 19 and 17 years old respectively.
Ideal world would be a marquee lock such as Pieter-Steph du Toit who can cover blindside to a very high standard.
