I heard about it minutes before the RugbyPass article was published so im guessing my source is on the payroll
In all seriousness I think its done and Freddie has missed out on some kind of of-the-book perk through the leak.

And we can offer him a testimonial.

Yes,he is that important when at his peak! Sarries are doing the same with Maro and co so why not? Posters were preaching that it's got nothing to do with your squad during the AI and 6N,it's having your best players/team during the run-in and playoffs that counts apparently.

Maro is a Marquee player on his new contractScott1 wrote: ↑Thu Feb 21, 2019 4:19 pm Yes,he is that important when at his peak! Sarries are doing the same with Maro and co so why not? Yes.Mark62 wrote: ↑Thu Feb 21, 2019 4:15 pmSo he won’t be a Marquee player but you would be happy to pay him £500k a year out of the salary budget, even though he would like be away with England, and that’s probably more than he’s on now.

At over £500k pa Manu would still be the second marquee player.Mark62 wrote: ↑Thu Feb 21, 2019 4:15 pmSo he won’t be a Marquee player but you would be happy to pay him £500k a year out of the salary budget, even though he would like be away with England, and that’s probably more than he’s on now.

Don’t think it quite works that way. Your 2 Marquee players are outside the salary cap but you could still a player £500k and that payment be inside the cap. Not sure why you would want to thoughABClub wrote: ↑Thu Feb 21, 2019 5:26 pmAt over £500k pa Manu would still be the second marquee player.

Isn't he on 450k pa already?

The club nominates it's 2 marquee players, within the regulations of course.Mark62 wrote: ↑Thu Feb 21, 2019 5:29 pmDon’t think it quite works that way. Hypothetically Manu could stay for over £500k (£560k is the figure I've heard) and the second marquee could be moved to Ford or Lenny who are on less but it would be a fairly astonishing work of stupidity to do so.

I think given a summer of far better recruitment to follow Taufau, the ongoing development of the younger players and what I fully expect to be a better start to next season (with some continuing progress between now and then I hasten to add) the likes of Genge & Veianu will see Leicester as a good place to stay as we rebuild.
Bristol may have to wait another 4-5 years before he goes there by which time I reckon the damage of the past 10 years will be turned around and if we are winning trophies he'll stay anyway.
Sport tends to go in cycles and all being well the next 12-18 months will demonstrate the club is getting its house in order and in another 4-5 years we'll be back at the top domestically and in Europe as the likes of Exeter and Sarries drop off just through the very cyclical nature of sport.
I fully concur with this post.

We certainly need to get the Manu clarification as soon as possible
If we bring in good players and have a good season next time round, it will settle such players as Genge. However, if we end up struggling again, I can envisage a mass exodus of our better players who will be out of contract at the end of the season. For me, this years recruitment is paramount. It really must be spot on.

I'm excited about these big names coming in! Taufua is definitely one but I wouldnt say Taute,Reid or Green were (all good players but not big names) But maybe Murphy does, let's see.

You are easily excited though aren't you!
I'd never heard of Tuafua before watching a cooking show, apparently it's a meat substitute and a good source of protein!
