Well Murphy has said publically? that we have made some big named signings and I'm sure he's a man of his word. But like I said before it depends what he means by big,he could mean Green,Taute,Reid and Taufua while I would only call Taufua big out of that quartet. I might be getting my hopes up for nothing!

I wish they would hurry up and announce the "big names" so that it might have some influence on Manu's decision.

How many times has signing multiple "Big Names" actually yielded trophies?

We do need better quality.

And can you say that
Green for Kitchener
Taute for Owen
Wouldn't be upgrades?

Just because some signings haven't been mentioned on the public domain doesn't mean that is it, look at Wasps and Minozzi no one linked them together.
Gloucester and Simpson is another one.

Multiple reasons why the club might not have announced some yet.
1. Club has been asked to wait by player or other club.
2. Some unions have signing rules.
3. Club might be waiting for a player to be announced as leaving first, especially if said player has yet to find a club.

End of the day does announcing a signing really affect this season?
Not really.

Manu won't suddenly decide to take Tigers offer because we sign say Read, and will most likely be told the clubs vision and other signings already. (Like Taufua was)

I think Murphy has inherited Cockers’ stance of reluctantly not announcing signings till late or after the season has finished, out of respect of the incoming player really. I respect and ditto that approach.

One could argue that the main reason for delaying the release of new signings is purely to avoid fan disappointment, if we are told there are no major signings bar Tuafua, then people would be calling for the heads of everyone before the end of the season.

The early release of Tuafua is WITHOUT DOUBT only because every other team is lining up monster squads for next season and they had to show some intent.

Ben Kay mentioned before the Glous v Sarries game something along the lines of G Ford getting a pay bump as he's out of contract. I imagine he'll take a marquee spot (IMO probably worth it with his form).

-Ford comes with the promise of a marquee spot, and pay bump eventually (we know he would be payed better elsewhere)
-Tuafua potentially takes another one.

Where does that actually leave us?

Seems like sustainability will see us in the Challenge Cup next season.

Would a couple of seasons in the challenge cup, allowing the really talented youngsters to emerge really be a bad thing...

Wonder if some signings are being delayed to coincide with season ticket renewals - weren't these delayed until March time?

Announce some really big names to entice the punters to renew.

Well Ford is out of contract the end of next season, so the pay bump won't be affected next season.
By then the cap freeze will be over and potentially be going up again (I hope not).

Can't compete under the current cap.

TTRITH it would be awful. I see the logic but to attract the best players with the money we have we'd need to be playing in the biggest games.

I can't believe that Ford might be expecting a pay bump given the current position, blimey what planet are they on!
I'd be looking around for some smart recruitment for the season after next.
Malins and Lozowski might fancy the opportunity, they aren't ousting Farrell and another Vunipola is coming through who I believe plays at 10.
Searle or Umaga from Wasps might fancy the opportunity with Sapoaga in their way.
Also bring Flood back as a player/coach!

Some Falcons fans are already bemoaning the injury to Hodgson because Flood looks a season past his best. Given we have both Hardwick and Costelow on the way through the development programme I don't see the point in signing a player that will be 35 by the start of the season after next.

Ford has reliably been our best player this season. If he continues that next season then the summer after he can have a pay rise.
