That's Sale as good as safe then, poor result for us. We need as many teams around us as possible to give us a better chance of staying up!

Just shows up how bad our back 5 are when Sale's 4-8 outplay the league leaders
Re: Sale beat Saracens
Tigers need just 5 points to be as good as safe then. So we will be as good as safe after we win with a bonus point tomorrow then!

Re: Sale beat Saracens
Phillips has to be one of the most underrated players going, no one ever mentions him. Destroyed players last year for Bath and was massive again for Sale. Great physicality.
Re: Sale beat Saracens
Phillips is at Sale? Didn't even know, yeah he's a beast!

Philips was good last night, played very well, not mentioned much by the commentators but I do find he is inconsistent sometimes. Bath messed around with him too much last season position wise, Sale have only played him at 5 I believe.

I did question the second yellow card, to me that was just a clearout.

I think that shows how good the Sale players are!
Not sure what it has to do with Tigers, other than a further illustration of how a combination of the Cap and the funding of teams has levelled out the quality of all the squads and made the Prem very competitive. How and why some posters on this forum continue to seemingly belittle other teams and think that Tigers have some kind of right to be better than others is utterly unrealistic in the modern era.
Just about any team can beat any other at the moment, and every point counts. This was a good win for Sale.

Re: Sale beat Saracens
Sale thoroughly deserved to win. 3 things stood out for me.
1. Sarries really missed Brad Barritt. The centre combination of Tomkins and Lozowski just didn't seem to work defensively as either one or the other was out of position. It just underlines for me that , no matter how good individual players are, for a defence to work successfully tried and tested regular combinations work best. For one of the Sale tries Sarries committed an all too familiar Tigers error of recent seasons - failure to correctly position their ruck guard. Well done to Sale for spotting and making the most of these opportunities.
2. The game also showed that Sarries react poorly when the opposition come at them with a physical edge and get in their faces. To combat this they had to put more bodies than they would have wanted into the breakdown thus limiting their attacking options when the ball came back.
3. Sarries scrummaged poorly. Both Koch and Mako Vunipola were found wanting.
Well done Sale!
