Watching Toulon last night v Paris there were a whole load of unheard of South Sea Islanders bigger than Manu. Why cant we have some and forget buying others cast offs?
Methinks we need Proper scouts..

They're obviously not producing the goods. Toulon are 11 out of 14 in the French Pro 14 and out of Europe.
Tigers for the premiership and European Cup. Get behind the team and make some noise!!

Tuisova has been at Toulon since he was a teenager, won the Olympic 7s title with Fiji and is one of the stars of Fijian rugby.

Flipo Nakosi is the half brother of Tuisova and played last season at Agen. Having been part of the Blues training squad in NZ.

Alainu'uese the lock is a Kiwi with Samoan heritage and was signed from Glasgow.

Whilst I would like us to try and add some Islander flair to the team Toulon aren't full of unheard of talent. They've spent money acquiring it from elsewhere. There's also a difference between castoffs and signing players from other clubs that aren't big names, Noel Reid (if he joins) is a valuable member of the Leinster squad who they want to keep he's just not an automatic starter.

We signed a couple of unknown Islanders under MOC, Mapaplangi and Pakalani. They haven't/didn't really do much.

Guys like Taute and Reid are exactly the type of players we should be going for, international or close to international quality but we won't be losing them for big chunks of the season.

I agree. I'm trying to think of big name internationals, at the peak of their career, who have come into the premiership and been successful. I can't - anyone?

Faf de Klerk? Shortlisted for, and arguably should have been, World Rugby's Player of the Year

OK apart from de Klerk, Stransky, Cullen, Ibanez, le Roux, Howard, Beale and Evans what have the southern hemisphere players ever done well in the Premiership?

I'll give you Stransky, although arguably a different generation. De Klerk was signed at the beginning of his international career and has come to prominence since, Evans had played a few times for the All Blacks when signed, bur wasn't a regular starter, Leo Cullen, though good, wasn't a top international, Ibanez had retired when he went to Wasps, Beale and Le Roux have been intermittently good at Wasps, but not enough to build a team around.

Ibanez came out of international retirement and captained the French side that came fourth in 07 and then retired again in 2008.
He was at Sarries before and he did well for Wasps and if I recall correctly captained them and who can forget the 07 Heineken Cup Final... :smt022
