Ahead in bosh but in terms of being a Smith/Hooper type 7 not so in my opinion.

I wouldn’t regard Willis or Simmonds proper 7s, more like 6s in my book.

Simmonds isn't a 6 imo. Nowhere near enough dog ,he's a luxury 7 or 8 if you've got two monsters next to him as Chiefs do. I think Underhill is more of a 6. Very physical.

Hooper isn't even a smith type 7 IMO

Tom Curry has the most turnovers per game in the league

Yes Hooper and Smith are two different players. Hooper is what I thought Clifford would turn out like when I first saw him, hopefully he can put his injuries behind him and reach his potential. Smith and Pocock would be a far better comparison imo

Underhill and T.Curry definitely best EQ breakdown 7s in the Prem and both are great tacklers.

Curry I agree but on best form both BoC and Evans are better at the BD than Underhill,Wallace too imo.

Not sure how this topic has turned into an uninformed debate on the relative merits of English qualified 7s.

Then again certain posters have a knack of going off on parallels

Underhill has very poor ball skills, would be better suited to 6.
Simmonds is a bit of a freak, he has a lot if what a proper 7 needs but does he see himself there?
If you take McCaw, Pocock, Hooper, Cane as natural 7's Evans game is a match (not the standard....yet...)
A 7 should be a link between backs & forwards, we were spoilt when Croft was in his pomp as he was built like a 6, played like a 7 & a 13.
We need a proper 7, its been an integral part of our successful teams.
To win is not as important as playing with style!

It's a transfer/contract thread. Isn't Evans a EQ 7?! And who is uninformed??? Some differing opinions granted but uninformed?!

It was only very late in Crofts career when he started acquiring BD skills though,I remember one game against Quins when he started at openside and looked very good.
