The money from CVC isn't meant to be used on players though.
Has anyone specified what any CVC windfall can or can’t be spent on? Certainly there has been no appetite to raise the salary cap, but the marquee falls outside of this anyway. Telling clubs what they could spend the money on could be very difficult considering the majority have been running at a significant loss for most of their recent history.
"The clubs voted unanimously to accept the new deal, however, with the funds raised earmarked for developing facilities and stadiums and expanding the competition into new markets rather than paying increasing players' wages."

Or will he stick around?
I would not be surprised to see Tuilagi, May, Holmes and Genge leave at the end of this season.
May I suggest that people do their homework regarding the length of players contracts before posting pathetic comments on here
Like Toomua then

Piecing together things I've heard from people who are in the know I think we may be signing Jaco Taute from Munster (I also could be completely wrong)

Well I am so sorry I don't know as much as you about the subject. I bow to your superior knowledge, intellect and research capabilities. I thought this forum was somewhere we could post views even if they are just hunches as in this case. I was unaware you require higher standards and will try harder for you in future :smt040

Would be a really good replacement for Toomua, played mainly at 12 for Munster this season. Absolute unit too.

Munster friend said he was talking to us and Saints.

His knees are 100% fine also.
Not sure if we have signed him but I would imagine we have.

Well he has just come back from a serious injury so that makes up for him not being an ex tiger :smt003

Taute would be a very good acquisition, as long as the most recent serious knee injury hasn’t taken its toll. Would be interesting to know if he’s in additon to Reid or instead of. Not sure how big his wage demands would be, but would give real depth to an area that needs strengthening

He’s a big physical lad. The fact he’s also captained Munster recently shows he’d add much needed leadership to he squad too. Be a good signing

Excellent news. The kind of player I'd like to see us sign. Can play centre and fullback, decent football skills and a bit of a unit.

I read that (the article quotes) as nothing other than saying “we’re not increasing the salary cap”, so not driving a wholesale increase in wages. It doesn’t state there will be a ban on it being used for any particular interest.
