Our entire recruitment policy for next season is rather tied up in Manu, both in terms of requirements & money. Getting that sorted/clarified is the priority.
We appear to have some potential coming through but its still a couple of seasons off the first XV.
Looking at it in another light, signing a core of South Africans isn't a bad idea. They do well, get called up by SA we can then use that time to blood the youngsters. If we assume they will get called up, and go from there (as opposed to assume they won't get called up), we could be in a good place!

We can't afford not to let the youngsters gain experience. The salary cap pressures are such that the club's succeeding are generally those generating young talents to fill out their squad.

Worth, White and Heyes have shown this season that a run in the team will do wonders for their confidence and on the back of which they can deliver as squad players. Might not be the finished articles yet but we're talking squad players with potential to develop not players we're relying to start every week.

Incidentally it's more often the more experienced players making the errors (particularly in defence).

Long term a steady trickle of one or two academy players coming through per year will be essential. It does seem that Tigers take development and academy sides a little half-heartedly.

Previously less than half heartedly. I think lessons have been learned though. The current influx plus the academy churning out what appears to be another two years worth after that appears to indicate that times are changing.

Once a pathway is established it's as you say there should be two or three making their way into the squad and looking to push on. The more you can develop the less you have to scout and sign.

It's imperative that we give youngsters enough experience now as well as getting our recruitment spot on with the RWC approaching. I think we will only lose Genge and perhaps Cole if he goes as third choice England TH in the pack at present and although big losses can be covered adequately but our backline will be completely decimated,it's very worrying tbh! Tait will be a very important player for us during this time if fit.

I suspect Tait will have retired before then. Smith will still be around.

Fitzgerald being here next season isn't certain either.

The first thing should be a aim of how we are going to play & then get a squad that fits that idea, rather than a halfway house or a style that doesn't fit the players.....simples.
To win is not as important as playing with style!

Is there a list out there of players out of contract at the end of this season?

Not sure if it’s been mentioned on here or not, but now confirmed that Huw Jones has re-signed with Glasgow until 2021...

Tommy Taylor has re-signed for Wasps. Taylor to Tigers was rumoured way back along with Cowan-Dickie. When it was rumoured TPN might go back to Oz most assumed one of those two might be the replacement. It would be interesting to see where that cap went if he does move home now.

Simon McIntyre, Ben Harris, Ashley Johnson and Gopperth all re-signed as well.

Good business there by Wasps after largely negative silly season rumours for them.

They'll start to scare teams if they start dominating. On paper our team will have scared a few at the start of the season but the way we've been playing won't have. Sometimes you have to ignore what the team looks like on paper and create your own reputation.
