Mirrors Andy Goodes analysis in the telegraph (found in another thread).
Problem - you don't become bad overnight. As with Rome burning - someone took their eye off the ball.

Re: This rings true for us too...
It seems Tigers have confused Tigers the business and Tigers the sports team.
To my mind there should be a CEO purely charge of the business, responsible for revenue development and budgeting.
A strong DOR in charge of the all things rugby, with a team manager, coaches, and a development manager in charge of scouting, retention and development through the academy.
The CEO and DOR should report directly to the board, who should set viable long term targets, that will give incumbents visbility on what is required and the stop knee jerk crisis management we have seen for the past few years.
At the moment it seems roles are confused and causing conflict, there should be complete separation, that goes for the Board as well, they should stop any day to day interaction with the team and coaches, in fact the board members should attend Welford road for matches and board meetings only, it is their job to appoint the right managers and then step back and let them get on with it and not allow the confusion that seems to be the order currently, any board member who is a conduit for team disunity should be suspended!

The board should formally interact with the playing side only through the DOR and then it's more about can we affords player X or Y within the playing budget.
Ultimately the board have the responsibility to hire & fire the DOR but once they have done that they should leave the appointment of coaches and playing staff to them.
When the money men get involved with the playing side it's a mess that should not happen.
In an era where most sides have a DOR we don't seem to have one and so the head coach has to deal with the board and the players. Can't be easy.

Absolutely right. Too much committee interference in the playing side of the business.mol2 wrote: ↑Sat Dec 22, 2018 11:33 am The board should formally interact with the playing side only through the DOR and then it's more about can we affords player X or Y within the playing budget.

For what is worth, my view is that Cohen listens too much to the "senior players" who I believe were complicit in the dismissal of Cockers and the appointment of Mauger. Thre CEO should run the business and another director the rugby. We have the situation that these senior players are unhappy about anything they go straight to Cohen who reacts but does he know enough about the game. As long as he has the final say tigers will be poor and may be in the Championship sooner rather than later but we will still have the hotel.

They don't go direct to Cohen, they access BK who is on the BODnasher wrote: ↑Sat Dec 22, 2018 2:20 pm For what is worth, my view is that Cohen listens too much to the "senior players" who I believe were complicit in the dismissal of Cockers and the appointment of Mauger. Leicester Tigers 1995-
Nottingham 1995-2000
Swansea (Whites) 1988-95
A game played on grass in the open air by teams of XV.

So bk sacks and appoints the coaches!
Re: This rings true for us too...
The Board do that, BK and Underwood are the members with playing side responsibility and a conduit for the players. The Board belatedly have given Smurf the power of full decision making and appointment demands.
