Gloucester vs Exeter

Post by JP14 »

Gloucester undone at the scrum, perhaps unfairly at first. Fate also played a big part in the match, the Cherry and Whites missed Polledri and then Cipriani got injured.

Exeter out powered Gloucester and deserved their win. They did the basics right and were defensively solid.

And the line out too. Their hooker was throwing inline with his own team. And the last try, by Williams I think, appeared short, but the ref decided to award it without checking.

I also couldn't believe how far the ref allowed Exeter to slow Gloucs ball.
There should've been penalty advantages galore to Gloucs and they are an extremely dangerous side with their talent on a penalty advantage.
Gloucester are looking strong, I thought they missed Rapava-Ruskin last night.

Some of this illustrates why Chiefs don't make progress in Europe. No Plan B and micro-tactics that come undone with picky refs.
PS Chiefs are/were my second team, two siblings are STHs there and the rest of the sibs are fans, two live next to the ground even! But I just haven't been able to warm to them over the years as much as I expected.
