I know he's leaving us but to only play 1 game this season?Ultimately, two second-half penalties from man-of-the match Toomua, after flying back for a final game for the Leicester Tigers last week, decided the game in the Wallabies’ favour.

I would not be surprised at an early release.RegBob wrote: ↑Sun Sep 09, 2018 8:06 pm A quote from The Guardian website.

Re: Has Matt Toomua Played His last Game For Tigers
He just tweeted support for the win.
Sounds like lazy or incomplete reporting. His and TPNs last game in the rugby championship is in Argentina late on October 6th. Hopefully they will be be both flying straight back after that and be available for the Scarlets game if not on the bench for Ulster

We were sure he was ours for another season...........and then.................I'll wait until he is here. I don't doubt TPN will return.Mark62 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 09, 2018 8:48 pm He just tweeted support for the win.

...and from Planet Rugby when picking their Team of the Week :
"12 Matt Toomua (Australia): A standout performer in Brisbane, the former Leicester Tiger returned to the Wallabies’ starting line-up and took his opportunity well. Combined nicely with Hodge in midfield and contributed 15 points via a try, two penalties and two conversions. Toomua’s goalkicking was particularly impressive as he finished with a 100 percent record off the tee."

Happy days clearing straw from the pitch before the Baa-Baas games! KBO

And then you read the Independent and a few others and it say " Leicester Tigers centre Matt Toomua scored 15 points as he kicked the Wallabies to a morale-boosting victory"
I think it is lazy reporting

Re: Has Matt Toomua Played His last Game For Tigers
why do the club need to say anything?
It was said at the forum that Toomua was here for this season and that was only a week ago.

True, but it is unsettling to see him described as 'former' Tiger by Planet Rugby!RagingBull wrote: ↑Mon Sep 10, 2018 4:30 pm why do the club need to say anything?

find a better class of website to read with respected journalists, you'd be surprised with how many writers on the Planet rugby type sites are fresh out of Uni, if they have even gone to Uni yet, and are doing it just to get the by line for the C.V.jgriffin wrote: ↑Mon Sep 10, 2018 5:30 pmTrue, but it is unsettling to see him described as 'former' Tiger by Planet Rugby!RagingBull wrote: ↑Mon Sep 10, 2018 4:30 pm why do the club need to say anything?

Re: Has Matt Toomua Played His last Game For Tigers
Why would they need to go to university to write about rugby anyway?Jimmy Skitz wrote: ↑Mon Sep 10, 2018 7:42 pmfind a better class of website to read with respected journalists, you'd be surprised with how many writers on the Planet rugby type sites are fresh out of Uni, if they have even gone to Uni yet, and are doing it just to get the by line for the C.V.jgriffin wrote: ↑Mon Sep 10, 2018 5:30 pmTrue, but it is unsettling to see him described as 'former' Tiger by Planet Rugby!RagingBull wrote: ↑Mon Sep 10, 2018 4:30 pm why do the club need to say anything?

There are journalism degrees at University, but usually aspiring sports journalist take English Language degrees.
Plus, there are student loans to pay-off, writing for online blogs is a part-time job as well.
Formerly of Burbaaage (not Inkleh), now up north at uni

Might be wrong here, but I would have put the Guardian at a slightly better class of journalism than Palnet Rugby.Jimmy Skitz wrote: ↑Mon Sep 10, 2018 7:42 pmfind a better class of website to read with respected journalists, jgriffin wrote: ↑Mon Sep 10, 2018 5:30 pmTrue, but it is unsettling to see him described as 'former' Tiger by Planet Rugby!RagingBull wrote: ↑Mon Sep 10, 2018 4:30 pm why do the club need to say anything?

But I guess that is purely subjective....
Re: Has Matt Toomua Played His last Game For Tigers
I get that but there's no need for it really. There are so many jobs that you need degrees for, when actually, someone without a degree could do just as well, if not better.JP14 wrote: ↑Mon Sep 10, 2018 8:46 pm♂️♂️ellis9 wrote: ↑Mon Sep 10, 2018 8:34 pmWhy would they need to go to university to write about rugby anyway?Jimmy Skitz wrote: ↑Mon Sep 10, 2018 7:42 pm

Also, if these people who write for Planet Rugby are studying sports journalism at university or have studied it, surely the website wouldn't be getting criticised for being written by said people?!
