The next New Head Coach / DOR?

Post by happywomble »

So, assuming Murphy does not get the poisoned chalice full time, who would be on your list?

Mine would be Daryl Gibson

Our next DoR...

Lots of opportunities on other threads to bemoan or rejoice at MOC's departure - so let's turn our attention to the next Director of Rugby and/or Head Coach at our wonderful, amazing Club!

I'll start...

A few have mentioned Stuart Lancaster - who seemingly loves Leinster and is loved back. I'm reminded though of a certain Chris Evans, who said today:

"Some of us are mountain climbers [but] if you get to the top of your favourite mountain and you stay there, you become an observer. I want to keep climbing."

Lancaster - an observer or a climber? Would you want him? Who would be your choice?

Either. Or both? You could have a wish list and a realistic list?

Wish:
1. Baxter
2. Cockerill

Realistic:
Murphy. I hope he does an excellent job and gets the job permanently.

Why would Baxter leave a well run successful club, for Tigers? Let's not delude ourselves.

Hopefully neither of those are considered.

Cockerill the man who stayed 3 seasons too long which is one of the reasons for the current mess

Although he's continually ruled himself out I would sit on Martin Johnson's doorstep and continually call his mobile until he surrendered and signed a contract.

In what role. Why bring someone in with no history of success off the field and isn’t interested

I agree. Would really like to see Johno back in some capacity, he has been out of the game for too long, left badly scarred by the England experience, he is too good a man not to return at some point - so why not now?!

Otherwise wish list Wayne Smith.

Vesty would be good but I think he is at a too similar stage of his career to Murphy, too little experience
