Not sure how I feel about this one. He’s always been a favourite player of mine. But always seems to underdeliver, I want more physicality from him for a big unit to get us over the gainline. Seemed to lose his aggression following breaking his arm twice.
I've always liked the idea of Williams playing for us more than his actual performances. If Bath have offered him a hefty contract then good luck to him, I think he could fit in more with their pack then he does ours at present.

We need more mobile size in our pack, not locks playing at 6. If we've got someone more suited to us then it's a good move for both parties.

I would be massively disappointed, yes perhaps he has struggled with injury and hasn’t been the same player since his arm breaks but I think he has played his best rugby in his best position which is 4. It’s a bit à la Luke Hamilton in my opinion.

How about a swap. Williams to Bath with Garvey or Stooke moving to Leicester?

Not too fussed about this good player, but we could have better.

Would prefer moving Kalamafoni to 6 with Denton, and signing a proper 8 or maybe even look to sign Kwagga Smith.

You cant be a 6 or 7 and play at 4 or 5-----------------4 and 5 should be like Cutmore and Hines. We havent had that luxury for years....
None of the great teams ever had this ''mobility'' idea. 4 and 5 are 4 and 5, nowhere else

We need 3 more enforcer heavy duty locks to go with Spencer.

In the back row we really need a top notch No 8..

We need a quartet of half backs- unless ford and Youngs start showing their worth. Certainly back ups as none of the reserve scrum halves/ fly halves are remotely incisive or quick enough...

A pair of hard nut centres, one very quick and maybe someone exactly like or even in person- Brad Barritt ???

Plus a pair of decent hookers, and for good measure a nasty pair of Georgian props... A wish list
In addition to some Coaching...

I agree I think he played the best he had for a long time at the start of the season in the row, he seem to carry a lot better there being the 3rd 4th carrier option rather than 2nd, like when he’s on the flank. As others say he never really seems to make the yardage that you would expect, but like Wells seemed to get dropped just to accommodate Kitchener, and although I don’t think he would be a major lose I would prefer to keep him as a 2nd row option who could cover back row, rather then Kitchener who really doesn’t seem to have pushed on.

Have you seen Sarries pack? Physical and mobile. Two of their locks have played 6 internationally. Cudmore and Hines are from a dying breed of player, you don't see many horrible :censored: like them anymore.

How about just switching them? Denton seems a more natural 8 to me. Kalamafoni undoubtedly puts in a lot of work especially in terms of tackles made and runs of the back of the scrum but he is hardly a gain line breaker. I'd like to have someone who break through that first tackle and offload rather than having to go to ground with the (often) lack of dynamism that creates in attack unless you can secure really quick ball with the right supporting runners in place for the 2nd phase.

If Williams goes then we should do everything we can to get Matera back

Admittedly I'm just going off what other people have told me but I'd heard he wasn't against coming back, just imagine if our backrow options were;
6. Matera/Thompson
7. BOC/Evans
8. Denton/Kalamafoni
