Interesting to see that Kalamafoni is at 8 and Denton is at 6, good back 5, looks as though Bateman is injured. Don’t know why Tigers insist with Ma’afu, even with Cole and Youngs I can still us struggle at scrum time.

Preferred Holmes to get the nod over Thommo but pleased to see Wells start.

The back line looks exciting again - although like most here I would have Holmes ahead of Thommo.

The pack, to be honest, worries me a bit. Ma'afu has not looked up to scratch and not a word on Bateman yet. We are also horribly light in the second and back rows - only Mike Williams and Tino providing cover for 5 positions on the bench.

Apologies if I've missed this, but does anyone know the prognosis on:

- Bateman
- Fitz
- Kitch
- Evans
- BO'C
- Owen?

Its interesting that Reffell is still at 7 even with Mapa and Williams on the bench, glad the coaches are showing some faith

Wells/Spencer could be a lovely combo! Criminally underused was Harry last season. He was superb with Barrow against Chiefs at WR,anyone remember why they were broken up?

Dom Barrow got injured, was out for a long time then apparently other factors came into play and he left the club.

I agree with all that and yes it would be good to know if those players are out for long.....

God side overall however.

A backrow of Denton, Kalamafoni and Reffell is not underpowered at all, Kala and Reffell could be devastating in the defence.

From the training pictures it looks like BOC is taking part in full training, so hopefully isn’t too far away from being match fit.

BBC Leicester Sport tweeting:

"Eastmond starts despite a dead leg in the pre-season game at Treviso.

Fellow new signing Guy Thompson will miss next week's opener against Exeter but Tigers hopeful for 1st home game v Newcastle."

We should never ever take a loss but don't forget team use to "tinker" with selection when visiting us in our pomp, then it started to happen at the Allianz now it's happening at SP. Do we do it at SP and target Newcastle a week later?

No.

It rarely works, picking a weaker team to rest players for the next week.

Team looks pretty good, only concern is the tight-five.
