2018 Premiership 7s

Post by JP14 »

Tigers squad for the incoming Premiership 7s to be announced shortly over the coming days, I expect to see a Loughborough heavy squad but it would be nice to see the likes of Lavin, Jordan and Thom Smith in there.

Would actually like to see us take it somewhat seriously for a change.

Use Worth, Simmons, Olowofela, Lavin, Apsland-Robinson, Eastmond if we've signed him. Make Holmes captain. Get Tait involved in the coaching as he spent time on the 7s circuit.

That’s a good idea, really good idea actually I’m not sure they will take it that seriously.

I would like to see any in the first team squad concentrating on preparing for the fifteen a side game, sevens if it is to be taken seriously is a different game and should not be allowed to interrupt pre-season. It may be a good idea however to have Tait involved in the coaching of the sevens team, I reckon he could have the makings of a successful coach of the future.

Don't think Tait has any ambitions to do coaching after, maybe I guess if he can't be a commercial pilot.

Will mosty likely be a Lough team.

I wouldn't want to play anyone who might be in the main starting XV team come the main season, as it would just be pointless extra minutes. I don't think it has really benefited wasps in playing them either.

Would like to see a squad of something like this though
1. Mahoney
2. Kerr
3. Lewis
4. Smith
5. Reffell
6. Simmons
7. White
8. Worth
9. Aspland-Robinson
10. Olowofela
11. Browning/Phoenix
12. Steward

Murphy’s interview about the 7s, I predict the squad will be announced tomorrow. By the sounds of it we’ll be seeing the new guys and some development promotions. Good news.
