Probably.
They said Mauger turned him down so either
1. Mauger rated Toomua more than Crotty who during the time wasn't as well known as he is now
or
2. Mauger didn't want to :censored: the NZRFU off.
Hindsight is a beautiful thing.

Apparently Feao got 6 yellow cards in 11 games for Narbonne last season, anybody know why he has such a poor discipline record?

FYI:
Simon Cohen said he’d try and arrange an open fan’s forum when all the ins & outs had been finalised. He confirmed on Twitter today that they're definitely doing it with September 4th as the provisional date.

Happy days clearing straw from the pitch before the Baa-Baas games! KBO

I'll put my faith in Stanko to give his best in transforming him.
The work Bateman has put in shows what can be done even for a player in his later 20's, he went from being a 4th choice hooker to one of the best Looseheads in the comp IMO.

Stanko really got our scum firing after he came in. Made Logo and Bateman much better scrummagers. I'd back him to polish a rough diamond.RagingBull wrote: ↑Tue Aug 07, 2018 1:18 pm I'll put my faith in Stanko to give his best in transforming him.

I'm sure Mauger knew all about Crotty what with him being a mainstay at the Crusaders for a few years now. Probably more down to there only being so much budget available to spend. If it was a choice of Crotty or Toomua then the view was probably taken that Toomua covered two positions and if the strategy was to bring back Ford then they knew they'd need cover during international periods.RagingBull wrote: ↑Tue Aug 07, 2018 9:27 amProbably.

Ford was signed a year after Toomua though.sam16111986 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 07, 2018 1:57 pmI'm sure Mauger knew all about Crotty what with him being a mainstay at the Crusaders for a few years now. I can't believe that Stanko wouldn't have been consulted about this signing and will have seen enough to know what can be done with coaching.RagingBull wrote: ↑Tue Aug 07, 2018 1:18 pm I'll put my faith in Stanko to give his best in transforming him.

I guess the naysayers will think the name was drawn from a hat.
Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2018/19 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD Part Deux
I am a massive fan of Stanko and think he's been really beneficial to us - he's a great scrum coach and our scrum has been pretty reliable since he joined. However, it's an (understandable) mistake to think that he sorted the scrum out. The scrum was pretty good before he joined, in fact if you go back and watch the 5 or so games before he joined (when cockerill was still around) and you'll notice we put a few of them to the sword.sam16111986 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 07, 2018 1:57 pmStanko really got our scum firing after he came in. So yes, Stanko is great, and yes he's probably been good for our scrum. But no, he didn't sort it out or fix it.
Never believe generalisations
