I believe Melville forced Jones to play Cipriani in South Africa so that he would stay in the Prem but after his Jersey incident just plain refuses to select him in favour of Dino Farrell.

I'm normally good with nicknames etc but you're going to have to guide me on this one, JP: Dino Farrell :smt017

I wouldve coined him shoulder boy. Named after the rapper Soulja Boy for the young ones

Cipriani doesn't have the same all round game as Ford or Farrell, both of which have differing strengths as well.

You could argue for Cipriani to be on the bench, but Ford is as good, and if Farrell got injured after 5 minutes I would want Ford on for the remaining 75 over Cipriani 100% of the time.

Cipriani is the English equivalent of Finn Russell. Can be magical at times but can also be a train wreck. It's the reason that no sane person would ever pick Russell to play for the Lions ahead of Sexton or Farrell.

Really? Cips has matured incredibly as a player, when was his last shocker? Russell is far more like 36 and inconsistent than Cips is.

As well as Ford or instead of?

Instead of. Ford may be a slightly better player, but he is away on International duty whenever England play.

Indeed. Glaws' squad is impressive at the mo because they have so many players who fall just below the international radar (Cips, Thorley, Sharples, Billy, Trinder, Woodward, Morgan, Ruskin, Atkinson, Slater, Ludlow) who are allowed through their omission to play together all season.

But then they realised they would have to rely on Burns to score :smt002

Cips is a good match for Glaws because they give him the responsibility of deciding the tactics and running the attack. That is unlikely to happen here, and certainly never for England, where skills and strategy are secondary to aggression and bulk.
