Broadening our vocabulary!

Post by jgriffin »

Happy Clapper = gloriously uncritical fanboi/gurl
NaySayer = critic, not too optimistic
DoomMonger = constant negative poster
Roly = :smt009

We need some more gradations of forum dweller for, I suggest:
1 fairly stalwart and somewhat stoic long term fan who is waiting for upturns with equanimity
2 often upbeat but occasionally sharply critical fan (I'm here or possibly Naysayer)
3 disappointed fan who really wants Tigers to do well but feels very flat about prospects
4 currently largely negative but holds out faint hopes (e.g. return of Deano)
5 holder of sharply delineated and often contrary opinions, engages in flame wars

Any ideas or new categories?
Leicester Tigers 1995-
Nottingham 1995-2000
Swansea (Whites) 1988-95
A game played on grass in the open air by teams of XV.

We need a category for those people who believe whatever Tigers do is wrong but yet every other club do things right.

I know this is meant to be tongue in cheek, but I'm gonna ruin it with a serious (ish) post for just a minute (excellent radio show btw!)

Can't we all just get along on here? Ultimately we all have something in common, and that's the club we support. Damn good start I'd say!

We all love this club, and we all have different reasons why. I love this club as going to games is a family occasion, I get to spend it with my dad, and my brothers, and hopefully any children I have in the future. I started going to games in 2007, we got a season ticket for the 08/09 season and haven't looked back.

I am deeply passionate about the club, I get so damn frustrated when we lose and the performance is poor, whilst I'll be elated with a single point win. I keep going. I will keep going regardless if I question the teams ethic or what head coach we appointed. This club means more to me than the 23 players named every week, then the guy in charge. If that makes me a bad fan then so be it.

Everyone here has a story as to why they love this club, even if the way we support the club is different. Critising the club doesn't make you any less of a fan then the person who never criticises... it's called caring about the club, any which way you look at it. If we didn't care, we wouldn't waste time posting on here...

Failing that, I think I'm probably option 3 although I'd imagine most will stick me in 4.

What about "the club don't stink" category where they can do no wrong in some people's eyes 😉 Or the MoC and GF fan club with me as president 😂

I’m a Flatliner but it’s fluctuated between that and Option 2 (Upbeater?) this season. Unfortunately, not everyone can get along: that’s what makes this forum, that’s what makes politics so divided, that’s makes humans human etc.

Think I’m probably a #1 - which I suspect might make me a bit of an anomaly on this forum, since the characteristic stoicism/equanimity generally makes one less inclined to post! However, I think this trait is more common amongst the wider group of supporters.

As for a label for this group, I think I’m stumped. ‘Loyal Fatalist’ captures it but it’s not snappy :smt017
