Gloucester go through a bit of a rebrand

Post by JP14 »

Gloucester have redesigned their logo, as well as launching a new kit. The logo is now a lion but they still call themselves Gloucester Rugby.

Thoughts?

Have they got their design inspiration from us?

I feel like Johan Ackermann is trying to make an Emirates Lions 2.0

Talking of re-branding - now that all Lions players have been given their unique number, will the Youngs/Croft '96' coffee business be re-branded '799-764'?

Is this the rebrand which was discussed alongside the Bristol Bears one?

Looks more like the Team GB logo.

You can call teams what you like. It is what is on the paddock that matters IMO. Having Cips there will certainly make their back-line tick.

Van Rensburg? And not a scary front row at all, this is where they could struggle.

Van Rensburg hasn't been confirmed yet. I'd be expecting Grobler and the boss's son to feature in the first team.

Sharples will start ahead of Purdy.

Grobler isn't confirmed, so I couldn't include him. Personally, I think Sharples is past it and Purdy is much better.

Rapava Ruskin is a very good loosehead, Hanson is a proven acquisition and a capped Wallaby while we all know of Balmain's ability. While it won't be their strongest suit, I don't think it's the weakest in the Premiership.

Purdy is strong and quick, I've never been convinced of his abilities outside of that. Would target him under the high ball if the chance arose for starters.

Grobler was confirmed as going to Glaws by some of the Munster coaching staff if I remember rightly. The Irish press have certainly reported it with complete certainty.

David Humphreys' son? I didn't realise he played for Gloucester. :smt003
