Apologies if I've missed the answer to this question somewhere along the line. Raging Bull,or anyone else sufficiently in the know, is the Steve Mafi move to Tigers definitely on or off or don't we yet know for definite?
Tigers for the premiership and European Cup. Get behind the team and make some noise!!

Don't know pre-season is soon so would imagine a we will know sooner or later.
Watching the Tonga v Georgia game, the Tonga subs props changed the game (Granted Ben Tameifuna was one of them but the other one who came on did well).

There was an Italian loosehead prop called Danilo Fishetti who played very well against Argentina and while I have mentioned it on another thread but I really think we should go after Ehren Painter.

I'm fine with Heyes, splitting game time between 2 TH's that age would be hard and one would move.
Heyes is a year younger than Painter but offers more in the loose already especially in defence IMO.

Another piece which is locked behind paywall saying that Chieka is looking to get him signed up to join a super team after his contract ends with Tigers so he use him in the RWC.
Also apparently we where after Swedish Aussie prop Markus Vanzati but he signed for the Force

The gist is that Cheika's plan is to sign Toomua for a return to an Aussie side for 2021 which would mean that if he puts pen to paper before the World Cup that would mean he's coming to Australia in the long run and it would make eligible for selection in the world up. He will stay at the Tigers till his deal runs out but will be effectively still be contracted to an Aussie team until the deal ends. Confusing, right?

Are there any rules about being contracted to 2 teams at the same time?JP14 wrote: ↑Mon Jun 11, 2018 6:40 pm The gist is that Cheika's plan is to sign Toomua for a return to an Aussie side for 2021 which would mean that if he puts pen to paper before the World Cup that would mean he's coming to Australia in the long run and it would make eligible for selection in the world up. But he wouldn't be as he would join Brumbies after his Tigers contract (should it happen).kpj tiger wrote: ↑Mon Jun 11, 2018 6:42 pmAre there any rules about being contracted to 2 teams at the same time?JP14 wrote: ↑Mon Jun 11, 2018 6:40 pm The gist is that Cheika's plan is to sign Toomua for a return to an Aussie side for 2021 which would mean that if he puts pen to paper before the World Cup that would mean he's coming to Australia in the long run and it would make eligible for selection in the world up. Ahhh so they just want him after his current contract ends, potentially with some kind of pre-contract agreementRagingBull wrote: ↑Mon Jun 11, 2018 7:11 pmBut he wouldn't be as he would join Brumbies after his Tigers contract (should it happen).kpj tiger wrote: ↑Mon Jun 11, 2018 6:42 pmAre there any rules about being contracted to 2 teams at the same time?JP14 wrote: ↑Mon Jun 11, 2018 6:40 pm The gist is that Cheika's plan is to sign Toomua for a return to an Aussie side for 2021 which would mean that if he puts pen to paper before the World Cup that would mean he's coming to Australia in the long run and it would make eligible for selection in the world up. Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2018/19 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD PART 1
That would be an interesting precedent to set. If a player signs a two year deal to play in Europe post RWC he just needs to sign a precontract agreement to return home after those two years and then he remains eligible for international duty for the entirety of his European stint.kpj tiger wrote: ↑Mon Jun 11, 2018 8:06 pmAhhh so they just want him after his current contract ends, potentially with some kind of pre-contract agreementRagingBull wrote: ↑Mon Jun 11, 2018 7:11 pmBut he wouldn't be as he would join Brumbies after his Tigers contract (should it happen).
Would potentially devalue the player for the European clubs as they'd then miss parts of the season. The precontract could also be agreed after signing to go to Europe to maximise earnings for the player with the club unable to stop release during international windows.

Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2018/19 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD PART 1
Only like the bears signing piutau, right?
Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2018/19 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD PART 1
No, I don't think it is the same - Piutau falls under the passport/3 year rule - he has a Tongan passport and will not have played international rugby for 3 years so qualifies to switch to Tonga for the world cup. That's not the same for MT as he is not switching. But I stand to be corrected.
Hehehehehehehehe
