To be fair he wasn't bad in the loose, carrying and tackling was ok. He just couldn't scrummage at anything like a professional level. How he's got an international career I don't know. Shame, I suppose he was worth a punt.Rugbyflanker wrote: ↑Sat Jun 30, 2018 3:18 pm Baumann was the worse TH I've ever seen,I'd rather have had PDJ!!!

It was more of a case that he was available, he always seemed to give his all and seemed a popular member of the squad, lets just hope Cortes can provide a bit more at set piecesam16111986 wrote: ↑Sat Jun 30, 2018 3:56 pmTo be fair he wasn't bad in the loose, carrying and tackling was ok. Did we sell him short though? He's a hooker than can play TH and afaik he never got a chance there. Not his fault I suppose
Re: LEICESTER TIGERS 2018/19 SQUAD/TRANSFERS/CONTRACT THREAD PART 1
Let’s remember he is a internationally capped player of the United States where they don’t have a luxury of tight head props available to them. He isn’t 1st choice and a young prop called David Ainu’u is one to look out for.
Formerly of Burbaaage (not Inkleh), now up north at uni

Those that think Beauman was Leicester's worse tight head obviously don't remember Deano's signing of Ken Fourie and the French international prop Frank Tournair was not brilliant for us either.

I never understood the Franck Tournaire bashing.johnthegriff wrote: ↑Sat Jun 30, 2018 5:45 pm Those that think Beauman was Leicester's worse tight head obviously don't remember Deano's signing of Ken Fourie and the French international prop Frank Tournair was not brilliant for us either.
I mean he was so bad he had 49 caps including back to back Grand Slams and a losing WC final. Fair enough that was before he played for us but in the 1 year he was here he had 16 league games and 24 games in total so clearly the coaches rated him. Leon Lloyd even put him into his all time 15
I think a lot of people decided they didn't like him because he went home for personal reasons 1 year into a 3 year deal.

Lets not forget his fellow Frenchman Jerome Schuster !johnthegriff wrote: ↑Sat Jun 30, 2018 5:45 pm Those that think Beauman was Leicester's worse tight head obviously don't remember Deano's signing of Ken Fourie and the French international prop Frank Tournair was not brilliant for us either.

Schuster was indeed useless. Didn't he join us as the scrum laws changed? I seem to remember as that being blamed on his sudden inability to scrummage.kpj tiger wrote: ↑Sat Jun 30, 2018 6:11 pmLets not forget his fellow Frenchman Jerome Schuster !johnthegriff wrote: ↑Sat Jun 30, 2018 5:45 pm Those that think Beauman was Leicester's worse tight head obviously don't remember Deano's signing of Ken Fourie and the French international prop Frank Tournair was not brilliant for us either.

With the Argentines relaxing their rules about foreign players I'd love for us to try and get Guido Petti, he's still 23 and is a monster in the 2nd row, his runs against the Stormers today were simply top draw

Yes Tigers have been blessed with many great props but I recall some of the worst - the Argie Santiago Bororino who was raw, probably done for "boring!" but let us not forget our ex. Kieran Brookes ex. Newcastle, Tigers, Stains and now elevated to Warps, raw meat for Gengie!kpj tiger wrote: ↑Sat Jun 30, 2018 6:11 pmLets not forget his fellow Frenchman Jerome Schuster !johnthegriff wrote: ↑Sat Jun 30, 2018 5:45 pm Those that think Beauman was Leicester's worse tight head obviously don't remember Deano's signing of Ken Fourie and the French international prop Frank Tournair was not brilliant for us either.

Baumann looked better than average in the NPC in NZ, especially in the loose, ignore the AWC game at Bath, the ref was shocking that day. Perhaps not quite good enough for the final step up, but its for the benefit of the game internationally that players from the lesser countries get exposure, if it leads to more strong international teams, if you don't you become Rugby League.
To win is not as important as playing with style!
