Freddie Burns on life @ Bath.

Post by wormus »

I have just read this very interesting article on Freddie catching an internet troll and the perpetrators downfall together with his disappointing season at Bath through insults, injuries, suspension and the pecking order.
{I think it originated in the Telegraph but that's behind subscriptions... :smt011 }

Not really. Good player but not the level of Ford’s class. If Tigers truly want to be back to being the top team in the country, then it was the right decision.

Burns has hardly set the world alight at Bath. Some people need to get over it that he left. It happens in sport sometimes.

Burns takes a while to settle,always has. He was on top form when leaving and so far Ford has shown me nowt really since he's been back.

I was disappointed to see Freddie go, especially in the manner that it appeared to be done? To get rid of an in-form player, well settled in the club is IMO poor judgement, regardless of who is on offer in return. I do wonder how Freddie would have coped this season behind an inconsistent pack that the Tigers have put out this season? Ford relies on a 'front-foot' game, most FHs do. Even the likes of Carter has had problems when back-peddling?

Ford started the season well enough and has progressively lost form.
Would Freddie have done better (ignoring his injuries this season)?

My opinion is yes. Better in defence and not far behind Ford in attack.

Freddie Burns was a good player for us but George Ford is better. We may not have seen the best of Ford this season but he is still better than Burns. :smt023

Maybe but Ford doesn't have to be at his best to be better than Burns. :smt001

If both players were at their best, Ford would be a class above Burns. :smt023
