Am in the Ford ain't that good camp. A season with Bath, an excellent tour of Argentina, and then I am struggling. My take on it is that you don't need stellar players on their own, you need very good complementary players. Burns/OW/To'omua for me would have fulfilled that tactical flexibility and skill. Harrison/To'omua worked well as both showed game management skills in harness. Ford at 10, To'omua at 12 doesn't seem to work, although that may be a consequence of tactical changes. We have a world-class running 10 in To'omua, and Ford ain't in that class apart (perhaps) for place kicking. But then a 10 does not need to kick if there are better kickers.......

When this deal was done there were a lot of questions about whether Bath or Tigers got the better end of it. Well, if you take a look at the league table, results of the teams, respective performance of the players surely there is only one answer to that question. Of course, the subsidiary question is has George Ford showed he is top drawer and worth £££ and angst to make the deal happen. I'm tilting towards the positive side but perhaps judgement is best held until we see the outcome of the next two games and any that follow on from that.

As for Freddie it's a shame it hasn't worked out for him this season but he's a mature lad now and I'm sure his luck will change. Certainly if Bath get most of their squad fit again and they get their coaching right Bath can become a force again.

Ford is a really good player.

Burns is a really good player.

The argument about which is better has surely been done to death now...

Mmmm :smt017

England discarded Burns, Gloucester didn't like him let him go to us, we let him go, Bath don't like him, is there a theme here?

Blimey, thats a bit below the belt on Freddie. Think the majority of our fans would have kept him.

However, as an aside, I think the best No 10 we have had apart from Jaco VW all those years go is Matt Toomau.

He has that extra something that GF used to possess but seems now sadly nullified....

I caught a couple of posts on another forum along the lines of him
"Leicester should move Toomua to 10,they might win something"
"We can't have that, leave George there"

And that's a common theme I'm afraid, cant find any neutrals who rate Ford.

I couldn't care less what supporters of other teams think of our players to be honest. :smt003

Speaking of Bath, ive read Blackadder job could be under threat as well as Todd being undermined by the owner when it comes to ins and outs.

Freddie Burns isn't having the best time at Bath. He doesn't play many games.

Kept it on topic- woohoo! :smt005 :smt023

Won't be next season, and Brucie will only be able to recruit from people who've never heard of Bath at this rate.
Maybe Ford will get a new lease of life by being dropped for England's next trip; I had high hopes so I guess that's why I'm disappointed, just no spark there.

Best all round for Todd, cant stand that John Culshaw looking Craig and if he's dictating ins and outs as I've read in several places then he's better off out of it! Ford and Farrell will be England's 10/12 in SA with Farrell as captain now Hartley is out so it's a useless tour in that sense with nothing learned!

Not entirely a useless tour if the likes of Jamie George establish themselves as the starter and if Farrell shows leadership there may be no place for Hartley to come back.
