Who needs traditional clubs when you can have franchises!

Post by kpj tiger »

So it has been leaked that Bristol will be becoming "Bristol Bears" upon their promotion

Not only that, Gloucester are to become the Gloucester Lions too!

Speculation that Bath might be heading the same way too

According to an "insider" this is to do with Gallagher taking over the sponsorship and making the premiership more marketable to the US :smt009 :smt009 :smt009

I hate the idea of it but from what has been reported it seems the Bristol Bears will definitely be happening at the very least

Well that devalues the term 'becoming a Lion' :smt002 :smt003

I wonder if this has been coming for a while, Bristol's Mascot has been a Bear for a season now already and Gloucester's has been a Lion for a while, and it does seem ominous that they have registered 3 new logo's with a Lion prominent in the design in February

Gloucester Lions? Bristol Bears? Where did they get the ridiculous idea of associating their home city with a wild animal that's never been native to that place?

(Oh well - I suppose imitation is the sincerest form of flattery!)

I damn well knew someone would say that! I've checked and there was some evidence of bears.....in the woods, apparently!

I suppose the sponsor will get what the sponsor wants but all copying one another with animals is a bit cheesy.
Can't they come up with something with a bit more imagination!
Why not Bristol Boozers, sorry Boomers.
Maybe the Gloucester Galacticos as they buy others players.
How about the Bath Cyclones, or Suckers. :smt005
