About 1500 years ago for brown bears I think, 300 for wolves, and probably more a couple of millenia than that for lions. Rhinos about 3000, so RL on the money.strawclearer wrote: ↑Sun Apr 15, 2018 10:39 pmI damn well knew someone would say that! I've checked and there was some evidence of bears.....in the woods, apparently!RagingBull wrote: ↑Sun Apr 15, 2018 10:27 pmTBF Bears where native to Bristol weren't they?strawclearer wrote: ↑Sun Apr 15, 2018 10:23 pm Gloucester Lions? Bristol Bears? Where did they get the ridiculous idea of associating their home city with a wild animal that's never been native to that place?

Very American, at least Tigers has its foundation in relatively recent Leicester military history as opposed to the many centuries ago since bears last roamed Bristol.
Without hope we are nothing, keep the faith, a Tiger for eternity

I think Bath Salts would be good - as would Bristol Beavers!
Talking of the commercialisation of clubs, I see the Crumbie stand has been 're-christened' and should now be referred to as the 'Breedon' stand.
Yeah............like that'll catch on.
(In this house, we have the Crumbie, the Members' Stand, the Clubhouse end and the Clinker bank.)

Oh yes - that place off Victoria Street, near Temple Gardens - set back a bit with that red door - on three levels with the night club and dancing upstairs. £20 admission week nights. Yes.
Never heard of it.

They may be Tigers’ great rivals, but Saints is not a fly by night new nickname. It derives from St James, the church of the clergyman who started it all. Called ‘Northampton St James’ originally ... the Jimmies, or the Saints.
ST in new Clubhouse stand ... sadly, my back's no longer up to standing :-(
