Re: The Six Nations Thread
Interesting regarding mol2's Aussie comment, my Aussie pal views autumn internationals as experimental.
Glimpses of potential performances matter more than results, to build on future tactics, an opportunity to probe for potential weaknesses of opponents.
The full tours are an experience of coping with differing opposition week on week away from home to expose themselves in readiness for the real thing at the World Cup.
England don't really push themselves and play differing nations with differing tactics and away from home, they only do it in the comfort of Twickenham, which is a bit of a money making machine and is probably highlighted in the amount of matches the players also play.

Re: The Six Nations Thread
Having had time to think about England following the six nations, anyone agree with a 35 man touring squad of:
1. Vunipola, Genge, Marler
2. Hartley, George, Cowan-Dickie
3. Cole, Sinckler, Williams
4. Launchbury, Lawes
5. Itoje, Kruis
6. Robshaw, Shields, Armand
7. Underhill, Willis, T Curry
8. Vunipola, Hughes
9. Youngs, Robson
10. Ford, Lozowski
11. May, Woodburn
12. Farrell, Te’o
13. Daly, Tuilagi
14. Watson, Nowell
15. Brown, Woodward
Picked extra flankers considering how poor the backrow was in the tournament.

Re: The Six Nations Thread
See above as regards to games played already, every Lion has to be rested IMO or kiss goodbye to the RWC! Can anyone not see the players are wrecked?
Re: The Six Nations Thread
They were pretty 'flat'. As my Welsh and Irish buddies said ' what the ***** gone wrong with England?' Centralised contracts do seem to give the Irish and Welsh a 'breather', not that I use this any excuse, and for the lack of a game plan that England failed to have, nor the fact that if you play what is in front of you will probably get a result given the talent?Rugbyflanker wrote: ↑Wed Mar 21, 2018 9:49 am See above as regards to games played already, every Lion has to be rested IMO or kiss goodbye to the RWC! I wouldn't disagree with you about front five players overplaying although Itoje has had spells out recently.Rugbyflanker wrote: ↑Wed Mar 21, 2018 9:25 am This is a "slight" problem too!

Most people think Robshaw has played well though.
Daly has had a spell out.
Marler gets plenty of rest whilst banned.
What is Hartley's excuse!
I think it's more about selection and tactics, Billy Vunipola is integral to those tactics in my opinion, England's most explosive forward missing in a team that relies on forward power is crucial and he will make England better, however I still don't believe those tactics including that personnel will be good enough to win the World Cup!
