Interestingly Thompson is listed at inside centre for Wasps this weekend.

That's the other Guy, Guy Armitage.

I remember Craig Newby standing in at centre for us though. He was actually pretty good there.

Who else is suspected to be out of contract or involved in rumours?

Rizzo? Catchpole? Brady? Will Joe Ford be on more than a 1 year contract?

Kitchener and Fitzgerald signed new contracts last season but if another lock on top of Spencer is being looked at then could one of them be eyeing a move?

Then there are the more short term signings we had over the summer to 'cover' holes in the squad:

Pakalani - 1 year contract as a development option? It's a shame he's injured as he looked promising for Tonga
Baumann - Short term contract in a position we are known to be recruiting in and need better
Traynor - See above
Fatiaki - A bit of a nothing signing, I think he's already with Coventry now

Just more BBC incompetence? It wouldn't really be a surprise.

Surprise! Surprise! the incompetent BBC have got Manu Tuilagi at 8 for us, they really are hopeless and furthermore Quins are now on 15 points and are shown second in the A/W table. :smt015

To be honest, No 8 would probably be his best position because he aint cutting the mustard in the centres now they have all worked him out...

He's still making yards and dragging in tacklers. The problem is that al our ball I'd too slow. If you have someone like Manu in the centre you want to be able to give him the ball flat to the gain line, either off first phase whee you get him over the gain line then ruck over quickly and go again or you get the opposition defence back peddling then have Manu run a hard line off a flat 10 giving the defence no time to realign and he goes through an arm tackle and is off.

What you need to make either tactic work is the ability to get quick ball. From the lineout or ruck we are sluggish at both. Generate quick ball for our backline and we'll shred opposition defences.

A bit inaccurate: brought in (out of retirement) as injury cover during first round of AWC fixtures and released very soon after as Toomua and Tuilagi returned successfully.

reports on rumours in rugby paper seem to confirm the following:

Pair of Tigers forwards leaving Welford Road - reports

The Rugby Paper's rumours section is reporting Leicester Tigers are having a clear out at the end of the season and two of the men on the way out of Welford Road are Springbok prop Pat Cilliers and new Scotland international flanker Luke Hamilton

I'll be sorry to see Luke go - always gives 100%, not without skill, seems a good 'club man' - but Guy Thompson is a step up imho.
Happy days clearing straw from the pitch before the Baa-Baas games! KBO

Cilliers departure is a good thing. Bit old and probably pricey for an oft-injured back up prop with "meh" form. Hamilton would be a shame. Ryan certainly weaker than him. Can only hope for some bigger signings. Would also be happy to see Fitz and Kitch go. Wells far better than both, and MOC been slow to recognize this.
