Forget about Racing and the LV Cup, the next big game is at Kingsholm in February. They’re unbeaten at home, we have been terrible away (and at home !), so assuming we have Genge & Veainu back, please let me give the team talk.

Looking at the fixture list, it could be the end of March before Tigers get another result.

Its not inconceivable that if it weren't for London Irish, Tigers would be struggling to survive the league this year.

Mind, you, what do I know? If you prefer to live in the Ellis9 dream land where Come January, Tigers would be top of their European group and second in the AP, then good luck to you.

I prefer reality, as unpalatable as it might presently be.

The problem is not the coaching staff, its the lack of coaching staff. It's the need for a Forwards coach and line out specialist. If we could convert our 5m line outs and pick and drive without turning the ball over results would be very different. Unfortunately we are unlikely to get the coaches we are after until the end of the season, similarly we won't be announcing are top signings till then too.

So face up to reality, this season is a write off by Tigers standards but next season should be different and if it isn't then that is the time for heads to roll.

Bledwyn Jones, a few weeks ago, made the point that surely Tigers could, until the end of the season, get Johnno or Backy to come on board to give some advice to the forwards. For a good few seasons Tigers haven’t had the coaching structure in place to compete at the highest level. The squad is the same on that went on a good, six match unbeaten run, so either they just aren’t motivated enough or lack the necessary coaching to continue to develop their skills. Then there is the continually baffling tactic of kicking the ball straight back to the opposition which for 3 seasons has meant numerous tries being score against us. Gloucester away is a time to show lessons have been learned; if not then Gloucester will win easily!

That is a difficult question to answer, but I have no doubt that once MoC is sacked, the BoD will scour the planet and leave no stone unturned in their quest to seek out and a appoint the right person for the job. Like they did last time.

Leicester Tigers injury update:

Tom Youngs rated 50/50 for the weekend, he hasn't trained today.

Dom Barrow expected back in training next week. It's hoped he'll be available to face Gloucester in the Premiership.

Any news on Veainu being in contention for this one ? Initially it said 8 weeks out...but Itoje was back with a similar injury in about 5-6 weeks if I remember rightly. And, we need his line breaks.

Given England's injury list, if Genge is fit, Eddie Jones may well consider him for Wales and onwards in the 6N, don't be surprised if Tigers are without him until the end of March.
