Tigers v Exeter

Post by WiggoTiger »

I believe we could be on the end of a record defeat at Sandy Park. I am concerned what pack moc will pick. Hope the team have been practicing line outs, restart kicks and game plans.
Were the boys on extra training yesterday?? If not why not?? :smt013

MOC did say Christmas was cancelled, I hope he wasn’t joking, if I was him I’d got the lads in for a stern briefing after the kid’s opened their presents and before the Christmas dinner

Same backline with same pack but Evans and Hamilton start over Mapapalangi and Williams to give us impact off the bench

Has May got a 1 week ban for the red card? If so Malouf on right wing, Thompstone to left and Smith on the bench, Owen won’t be back until Exiles game.

Bateman is back I think so him in for Traynor on bench, can’t start him straight away as he’s only just returned from a back issue I believe and Mulipola was my 🐯 man of the match on 🎄 eve so he should start however he will have a tougher time scrummaging against Williams then Figallo

May will be available as he would only be banned if the cards were for foul play.

That’s ok then but he might get dropped anyway

We won't see it but I'd like to see a pack of;

Logo
Youngs
Cole
Wells
Kitchener
Williams
Evans
Kalamafoni

We won't be able to out muscle Exeter so we've got to be able to contest the breakdown and Wells and Evans can help with that. TPN, Traynor, Bateman, Mapapalangi and Hamilton on the bench.

When we beat them they were without Cowan-Dickie, Waldrom and Simmonds but now they have. I will obviously want a win and I want MOC to tell the boys to get a pair and not be defeated at Sandy Park like last year. Plus we will probably see a bit more fluidity and connection in the backs, if they get any meaningful ball. We are without Gengey but Mulipola and Bateman are suitable substitutes. We have to play like they did at Welford just without the 16th man and silence the world's most annoying and probably politically incorrect theme tune, the Tomahawk.

Mulipola - Brilliant for us on Sunday
Youngs - Captain and his lineout throwing wasn't the bad on Sunday
Cole - Didn't get penalized once and dominated in the scrum
Wells - Breakdown competitor as well as a true lock-forward
Kitchener - Getting better and better
Hamilton - Ever reliable and can compete at breakdown and carries hard every time
Evans - Yes he needs to bulk up but so do I and I can't and he is a very good player over the ball
Kalamafoni - Already a proven servant
Youngs - Needs his pack to perform
Ford - Needs front-foot ball
May - Needs to redeem himself
Toomua - Needs more gametime, showed glimpses of his defensive masterclass on Sunday
Tuilagi - Much needed gametime and needs to stop trying too hard
Thompstone - Ever-reliable and showed great skill for Tait to score
Tait - It's been a goddamn long while since Tait got two in two matches, sometimes needs to pass rather than kick but otherwise playing superbly

Bench:
Tafu - Needs to get used to his jumpers
Traynor - Rather him than Baumann
Bateman - Needs some gametime back from injury
Williams - Versatile and robust
Mapapalangi - Could give some real impact off the bench
Harrison - Reliable deliverer of quick ball
Worth - Versatile and can kick for the sticks
Malouf - Powerful winger

Not a prayer for this one. The Christmas Remy will remain corked!

Hope to see some signs of cohesion but until we assemble a decent pack that works together I think we are doomed to mid table mediocrity.

I'd also think about making Ford captain, Tigers need a cleat cool-headed person who can engage with the ref.

Made all of his catches from Youngs, just missed the overthrown ones from Polota-nau, carried whole-heartedly and has shown some decent hands
