I live in Leeds now and my kids were born here, but my lad was just getting into football as 'the Filberts' were winning the league so he's goes to football training in a LCFC kit and has asked for the goaly kit for Christmas.
I'm taking him to WR on Sunday for his first rugby match, we watch it on the telly so he's knows rugby union is the best form but they play league at schools around here so i've got my work cut out!!
Cricket, well we've been to watch 20-20's at Headingley and i'll support Yorkshire unless they are playing Leics, but I think he'll always be a Yorkshire cricket fan. I'm happy give him that one.

Why should it really matter so much......I don't know, but as Jacko says it just does!!
I used to live up on the Mardy. We even have a Mardy football club

I remember my first year at Sussex University in 1967 that one of the Welsh boys - decent rugby player - was from Mardy - although I think he spelled it differently

There's Maerdy, up the Rhondda. This Mardy is up the Hereford road from Abergavenny.

Ooop t'North, 'mardy' was part of a spectrum of aggrieved reactions that also included 'nowty' (trans: on the angry side of grumpy).

A newer word and one of which I am frequently guilty is Hangry.

A sort of combination of being hungry which makes you irritable, hence angry.....

Not that I'm guilty of focusing on food too much!! :smt002
