Re: Different rules
Yes, the refereeing was a big factor. We were pinged this week for offences Munster got away with last week.
OK we were poor again in adapting.

Re: Different rules
Sorry.
Sick of hearing the same old "we need to adapt to the ref." Rugby rules are rugby rules wherever you play. Its the same as the law. Theft is theft. Burglary is burglary. If you break the law, the police don't interpret the law to suit themselves (otherwise this would be anarchy).
The referees need to apply the law consistently so the players are playing against each other. Half the time its 15 vs 16, depending on which league the ref officiates in and how they decide to spin the rules.
Rugby in general need to challenge the referee's governing body or we, and others will continue to fall foul of confusing and contradictory decisions.
All that aside, it doesn't help when you play as badly as we did tonight.
A very frustrated (but loyal) Tigers supporter.

Re: Different rules
Its become so boring on this forum blaming the ref every time the tigers lose ....only 2 wins from 14 matches in the back to back games for the english teams ..maybe the premiership is not that good anymore
Re: Different rules
I think there is a clear difference in the application of the breakdown laws - we saw Munster dive over time after time without being penalised.
What this weekend has shown us that the Premiership must play to the same interpretation as the other leagues as it disadvantages us in Europe and England internationally.
There is no doubt yesterday's ref was clueless. The two cards were ridiculous. The Munster player gave a clear penalty but no way a yellow. Cole got carded when he should have already pinged one of their players for diving over to prevent fair competion.
As for the try. There was no way he could give the try based on the video evidence and from where he was standing he could not have seen anything himself.

Re: Different rules
Although making no difference to the result. The final play of the game saw zebo high tackle Manu stopping a certain try, yet no call.
Re: Different rules
Regrettably referees are human. If you don't convince them of the validity of your argument or you :censored: them off then you are likely to be treated less favourably. Probably not helped by the crowd booing the officials either. Shouldn't be so I know but humans are err human.
I'm not cynical just experienced
Re: Different rules
Ridiculous thread, Tigers lost because they were beaten in every facet of the game, to moan about the refereeing is misguided, the penalty count against tigers was a good indicator of the stupidity by Dan Coles and others, 11penalties in the first half is a reflection of a side under enormous pressure, not a indication of poor refereeing.
Why is it every time Tigers lose the ref gets the blame, we are just not good enough anymore, it's time to move away from employing our coaches from within and bring in a head coach who has no association with Tigers.
Other teams have moved on but Leicester Tigers are stuck in the past along with quite a few of the posters on this forum.

Re: Different rules
Yes the rules are applied differently by different refs and different competitions. This is something that rugby as a whole needs to address.
HOWEVER, given that this is no secret, part of a team's preparation should be analysing the ref, not just the opposition, and setting out a gameplan to play to the way that that particular ref applies the laws. A key part of on-field leadership should be to alter said gameplan to adjust to the refereeing. Neither of these things seem to be happening at the moment, especially judging by senior players expressions and outbursts on the pitch in reaction to refereeing decisions.
Maybe if we had more than a bare-bones coaching team the prep would get done - the size of our . Tom Youngs is increasingly looking like an (understandably) angry man with a "hard done by" attitude, running around the pitch with little thought going into his actions - again, that's totally understandable, but it's not what is needed from a captain. Sadly no other players are stepping up and showing much in the way of leadership qualities, so I can't suggest a better alternative. The likes of Cole and B Youngs should be sharing the leadership responsibilities but it doesn't appear to be in their nature.
As others have said in other threads, the biggest failure in our recruitment over the last decade has been not replacing the leaders in our team. It seems like we only choose players based on physical talent and skill, rather than mental qualities. Hence being in this position whining that the refs are unfair.

Re: Different rules
I have to disagree with all of these points. Cole was warned and finally carded after multiple infringments, Ryan's penalty was stupid, cynical and in the 'red zone' following a period of pressure from Tigers. The referee had seen the grounding of the ball and asked the TMO is there any reason not to award the try, from the video evidence there wasn't a reason not to award the try.mol2 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 18, 2017 10:07 am There is no doubt yesterday's ref was clueless. Re: Different rules
The try will have been awarded based on the question asked of the TMO. If he had been asked "Try yes or no?" then because the ball being grounded could not be seen the answer would have to be no try. However Munster Exile is correct based on the question "Is there any reason I cannot award the try?" the TMO finding no reason from the video evidence had to answer that question as no. Therefore try awarded.Munster Exile wrote: ↑Mon Dec 18, 2017 10:22 pmI have to disagree with all of these points.
