The writing's been on the wall for a while and Hartley has pointedly talked up the quality of the squad but not the coaches. As I said in the Transfers & Rumours thread:

Craig Doyle before the Quins/Sarries game, summing up the weekend so far:

"That's 5 premiership defeats for Saints in the league. We've been keeping a close eye on what happens at Franklins Gardens - they might want to shake things up - it's been a tough old time for them..."

Sounds like they've heard a whisper....?

Ospreys have heaps of players missing and Saints have a well balanced team out so I expect them to beat Ospreys easily and give a stay of execution for Mallinder. What follows in the next half dozen games:

Ospreys v Saints
Saints v Exeter
Quins v Saints
Saints v Gloucester
Saints v Clermont
Saracens v Saints

Could be a different story.

Patience on the terraces (as any visit to the Saints forum will testify) is wafer thin. Losses against Warriors, Sales and Newcastle means the team has to produce a turnaround against top dogs Exeter and the in form Gloucester to secure their DoR's future.

Tempted to gloat and indulge in some schadenfreude but then it occurs that the scenario unfolding is not dissimilar to what happened to Tigers last season.
Tigers for the premiership and European Cup. Get behind the team and make some noise!!

If Mallinder Snr does depart...21-year-old centre/10/15 England tourist Harry Mallinder has recently agreed a new contract to keep him at Saints until 2020 but you know what these kids and these contracts are like.

Just thinking out loud really.....

Would be an interesting addition to Tigers squad given the positions he can cover.

Mallinder Jr would be a good addition to our squad but I feel like next season we need to focus on the front 5 I think,

Not sure his defence is what we need either currently.

I've said it before, Malingerer is good at getting his teams to generally underachieve. Just look at his record at Sale (who won the Premiership not long after he left) and Saints.

I read an article before the first round of European matches this season by Stuart Barnes in The Times. Made sense for once. Last season, Saints got stuffed early on in the Champions Cup and then concentrated on the league to ensure that they qualified for the Champions Cup this season, which was by no means certain. Barnes pondered if the same might happen this season...

Nuff said.

We definitely do not require the Junior Mallender.

I am quicker than he is------------- and I'm 71

Not a very big crowd at the Gardens, apparently not included within season ticket.....now trailing Ospreys 15-3!

As things stand, you wonder if he'll be required for the return fixture.
